 You know what, I reall am lucky.

Today while chillin with snoopy on the recliner just watching and petting him I realized what a privilege it is to have him. An exotic, wild, animal right here by my side. Letting me stroke and marvel nature of this magnificent animal. Just came to even more of a realization of what we have with these exotic animals.


Not only that Snoopy was a rescue and he was black from stress had worms and was skinny before I had him. Yet he still has a full tail, all his spikes, and all his toes and claws.






Hes loves bein lazy :)







And omg he just opened my door!! I had a slight crack in my door and he opened it like a cat would I didn’t know he could do that lol!!

Oops wasn’t done him opening the door just distracted me haha. But anyway do you ever just sit there with your iguana and realize how amazing it is how we can make these wild animals our family.. Just the concept of them becoming tame fascinates me.

i hear ya bro. i had a kind of funny experience with turner (my iguana) over the weekend. i decided to let him chill on the couch with my while i was playing xBox. after about 5 minutes he decides to take a dump! WTF?!?!!? hahaha, i usually keep him in his outside cage on the weekends and sometimes he will go in that thing, but come on, the first 5 minutes he was on the couch!!!!!

You definitley have a B.A. looking iguana!

Where are you from, your shirt says NY, but where? I know in some areas, iguanas are considered very exotic. I live in a populated area, so I see very few wild reptiles, and that gives me a greater appreciation for my iguana. People in Florida may not agree though, as they have iguanas all over. I know parts of Louisiana are caked with rock lizards too.

This is the least important aspect but I also got snoopy for 25$!! At first he had him for 150. A young adult for 25$ I was amazed :). And he came from Ogden UT Sharron.. Well Riverdale to be exact, where all that nasty construction is.

haha ive had the same revalation many times. like when my sun conure is tucked away in bed with me (asleep) while i watch a movie. think of that...a bird sleeping under you chin. or when i take shela out for walks and she curls around my neck and i can feel her breathing...her little sides moving aginst my neck. i hate that reptiles have become pets, but i love all of mine with every tissue of my heart, soul, and being. i have never wanted human kids in my life because my animal kids are 10x better.

snoopy looks huge in his lazy picture....and small on your side. haha

and shela is good about her poops...always in her water (or sometimes in the bath tub) and never on me, the couch, or the bottom of her cage. haha

Man you are close. Your baby is probably from the petco there, they sell alot of them and I notice alot of ads for people getting rid of them. I guess they don’t realize how much work they are. LOL when isn’t riverdale under construction. Nice to meet you guys.

I got Snoopy off KSL from a guy running a rescue. I had to give some props to petco cause on their iggy tank it clearly states: that iguanas need 2 hours of handling a day and need both uvb and heat.

petco isn’t too bad, but every time i go in there and see the baby iggys about 5-6 months old eating iceberg lettuce thats about 3 times the size of their head and see their uvb fixtures about 1 1/2 feet away from their basking spot i get pissed. i saw this one baby iggy who was diggin through the iceberg dish (there’s about 6 different iggys in the same enclosure which is about a 70 gal or so) and he was picking up the scrap lettuce cuz all the others were too big and he ate about 2 pieces that were still too big and just gave up and walked over to the other dish which had the alfalfa pellets and dried up "iguana food". i got so ticked and told the guy in the reptile section and he goes "i know man, i’ve been telling the manager about that problem for a while now and it’s pissing me off."

so that pretty much sums up how i feel about petco, but on a better note, snoopy looks like a little rascal :)
sorry, i always do that, pessimistic comment, followed by a counter comment that usually is optimistic

My iguana was the runt who only got scraps. When I got him, he was a skeleton. they just fed the lizards lettuce, and the bigger ones would gobble it all up.

Hey Thomas,

He is beautiful. They are such beautiful and amazing creatures. Though I cannot handle Sam nor take him out as I would love to, I am in his hab all the time giving him love and attention.
I just wish everyone would love and appreciate them as we all do here.

I wish you both many,many, healthy and wonderful years together
