 Meet Carmine

Well I posted pics of my baby red iguana in the "post pics of your cage" thread, but nobody respods to it. Sooooo, since I’m bored...



What’chu lookin at foo’




When I got Carmine, he was a runt. Petco fed him and his cellmates lettuce, but he was apparently too small to get and for himself. The little dude was pretty bony and malnourished.

Luckily, he began eating the day after I brought him home. On the third day, he let me handfeed him. Do you guys think he looks healthy enough? I worry about him all the time.

Awe, Carmine is beautiful. Just make sure his temps are good and feed him well and he will thrive. And yes, don’t forget the love and attention :)

and yes, the milk crate is just serving as a sort of table for now until I figure out something better, The room is not the biggest :)

The flowers aren’t in his house,
i just put him on the table and he crawled onto them :)

This morning while I tried to mist Carmine, he started hitting me with his tail :(

He has always been calm around me, however, since i put him in his new home, he has become a huge jerk. a few days ago, he started whipping the spray bottle (really funny to watch), but today he was whipping me :(

He seems very happy in his new home, and it’s far better equipped than his old 30gal was. he’s able to regulate his body temp and hide in his leaves and under his log.I’m not sure what the deal is but it makes me worry that I’m doing something wrong? Carmine is still a baby and like I said, he wasn’t such a jerk before. I handle him every day multiple times. I get him out and let him explore te house. WHY IS HE SO ANGRY!?

It is new to him. Give him time. It took Sam about 5 weeks to adjust to his new home. My son had gotten Sam an expensive mister with a green top. He HATED it and would go to whip it. I got a cheap water bottle for a buck (Moms are so smart and rock haha) with a yellow top and he is good with it. Today he actually enjoys his sprays. Then again he is in a massive shed and I am sure it feels good :)

Let Carmine adjust and it will be just fine.

p.s. if he is by those flowers make sure that they are not toxic to him nor treated with any type of pesticide which most nursery flowers are. Never ever assume that he will not eat something
