PLZ HELP!
hey everyone i have an iguana named izzy, and i have a slight problem. Everytime i take her out of the tank she is in she freaks... and i mean FREAKS!... and lately she has started trying to bite me, hasnt done it yet but she opens her mouth wide sticks her tongue out and lunges for my face, fingers, arm, etc. I love her but im afraid if she is going to be this aggressive i will have to sell her... so plz help me on how to get her to stop!!
Also im just guessing she is a female because thats what petsmart told us when we took her to get sexed but ive heard that females have a smaller comb than males and she has a rather large comb.

PLZ HELP! My boy did that too. We took a throw blanket and wrapped him up in it when we picked him up. We would cover his eyes with the blanket when he freaked out big time to calm him down. We would hold him for a little while in the blanket and slowly unwrapped him, as he stayed calm. We were unwrapping him faster and faster, over time, because he would freak out as much. I guess the throw blanket saw sort of a security blanket or something. Now days, he still freaks out, but only a tiny bit. He calms down very quickly. We weren’t able to completely rid him of that behavior, but it’s much better. Basically my family spent alot of time holding him and doing the blanket thing. Maybe you can try it.

PLZ HELP! Herp,
How long have you had him or her? What is the enclosure size? temps? humidity? diet? Approximately how old?
Could be factors in why he is being aggressive. Have you taken him/her to a vet for a checkup? You check into all these things before you have to ever resort "dumping" an animal.

PLZ HELP! Hey thanx tpau...and tone, i have had her for about 3 weeks, her enclosure is 4ft long by 2ft high by 3ft wide... yea i know i need a bigger one but im workin on an 8ft tall by 4ft long by 5ft wide one, and also... my temps are 95 on the hot end 78 on the cool end and her basking log stays at 102. Her humidity is constantly ranging from 62-75. i feed her a diet of mustard greens, butternut squash, collard greens, fresh green beans, and parsnips... accasionly some sweet potatoe. I dont exactly know how old she is because my couisons neighbor found him in his backyard and ive had a couple green igs b4 but had to get rid of them... gave them to a highly trusted freind, theyre still alive today :D... but she is about 3.2ft long from her nose to the tip of her tail, if that can help you at all :P

PLZ HELP! Her temperment could be the season or just who she is. If she was wild to begin with, she is very well having times adjusting to being a captive creature. You have only had her 3 weeks. Try not to take her out for a couple more and let her just get used to you and gain her trust. In other words, provide her with the good diet you are and fresh water and talk to her softly from outside of her enclosure. 3 weeks is not a long time for an Iguana to acclimate to new surroundings. As Pocochu Annie always says: Time and patience. you might not ever have a sweet docile creature but I do hope that will not sway you from providing the love, care and attention that they so need. Too many Iguanas are dumped because their owners do not realize what they are getting into and everyone wants this great big creature that will hang out with them and do what they want, Not always the case. I have an Iguana that I cannot take out and that is fine by me, He has his own personality and I honestly would not trade him for anything, I love him more than words could say :)
If you have not taken him to a vet yet then you really need to do that. Sometimes aggression could also be a sign of something else medically underlying. They are worth the time money and patience.
I wish you both the best
Tone~

PLZ HELP! Like Tone said I always say "Time & Patience" with her being a wild iggy she may never tame down..I would just let her be for awhile.....and let her acclimate for awhile longer.....and as far as her being a she because females have a smaller combs...is a crock of $hit...sorry to be so blunt...I wouldn’t believe a thing that Petsmart tells you....The only way you can tell male & female is by the size of the femoral pores on the underside of the thighs.....
Sexing Iggys
You know it would be really helpful if you could post some pictures of her and maybe we can tell you if she’s male or female....
