The baby anole died today He was the same when I left this morning but looked horrible (and quite dead) when I returned from work. I was only ever able to get a few bites of baby food in him. I soaked him a few times and got him to drink some water on occasion. I had him 1 week yesterday. He would sit on my finger and open his eyes really wide to look at me, then he would squint them back down to small slits or close them completely. He was wasting away to nothing and it was awful to witness. I guess he just didn’t really want to live..or he was too messed up from spider venom. For all I know, he could have been in that web for a long time before I discovered him. Anyway, I am happy that his suffering is over and he is in a better place now....however, I am still sad because he was so very tiny and cute

 I’m very sorry for your loss....

As you said, that poor little guy might have been envenomated and in pretty bad shape. Please don’t beat yourself up for trying to save him. Remember that he died knowing love instead of struggling to escape that web. He had a warm and restful home for his last days and that is something important.

 You gave him a week to live

If you had not saved him from that web he should have died one week ago.And he would have had an awful death, eaten alive by a spider!! Flavia
