 Ima Grandma...sorta

well my first mommy had her litter last week, and all that was left were pieces and parts from where she ate them. ick. but i had to pick mom up from her second job, and i went to grab one of the birds to come with me, and i heard squeaking. i checked, and my second momma was having her babies. so i took the first momma out and shes in with the male (only place i had for her) cuz i didnt want her eating the babies. but momma 2 is doing good. shes got about a dozen-havent counted yet. mom and i watched her for a few mins, and it was so fascinating that i had to record it. ive still got them on the cedar bedding but its the last time. i had to use up what i had. but im so proud. heres a video for you guys, and pictures-she left to get a drink. sorry about the lighting in the video. i used my digital camera.

is there anything i need to do for the babies or for momma? bedding, heating, anything?


UPDATE- took about 30mins to upload this video, and she had her babies about an hour and a half ago. just wanted to say i just checked, and she hasnt eaten her babies. yay!

they are cute. shes done now, so i had to clean up the cage. was kinda bloody-ick. but she has 10 beautiful babies that i will probably be putting in the freezer in a week or so. lol

but they are adorable!

oo i could not do that put them in the freezer, that’s why i stick to iguanas i am not for animal eating other animals i get mad at my cat when he catches something but that never really happens he is not the smartest cat. lol

Awww they are so cute...don’t feed them live!!!!!!!!!..I can’t stand that...just put them in the freezer and start them on F/T (frozen/thawed)..Freeze them and then put them in food saver bags and keep them in the freezer then when you need a couple just thaw out a few.........

i feed frozen anyways, but ru is refusing to eat anything and everything i offer him...i started to offer live this morning...and i couldnt bring myself to do it...

Aha I dont know why but I dont feel bad about feeding my snakes live rats. My Albino Burmese is big enough to eat rabbits but I just dont dare too. I feel sorry for the bunnies but rats ehh I dont mind... I just feed him 2 jumbo rats so I dont have to feed him a cute bunny... :)

i cannot feed animals to other animals.

the babies and mom don’t need anything but what they have. i raised rats and mice for years and years on cedar and never had a bit of problem. it’s less messy and smells better than anything else--i never heard it was toxic till i came here.

Aw, how cute!

Eh, I guess I never really think about feeding rats or mice to snakes unless they actually have a personality that I like. Babies don’t really have anything, no color, no personality, they’re just tiny. But if it were an adult mouse that I’d had for a week or so with a cool looking pattern I wouldn’t be able to do it. That’s why I usually have pet stores pre kill for me.
