if you are just wanting a pet to sit and look at maybe think of an aquarium B/c an iguana takes alot of time and care imagine having a two year old child with a tail and teeth that hurt and a strange sense that you should be beatin till you let them go and they will!

I would have to dissagree with the above post Ive had several Iguanas and they are not like that. YES they do need a lot of time from their owners, BUT they are not blood thirsty tail whipping killers. They can be very relazed like my Bruce. When they are young they need the most interaction that you can give them but its not like baby sitting you should enjoy your time with your Iguana. They can be the most wonderful of pets and are one of my favorites.

I’m not saying that they are horrible at first, I’m saying that if you aren’t home to play with it the whole training process will take longer than the first year. Then there is the times when they will still whip you just because you are never home to play. I’m at home with my kids and lizards all day . my Tokay gecko will sit in my lap and I’ve only had it for 7 months. I know alittle about taming too

honestly ...if you want a tame one...at least a couple hours a day...not to mention all the money they cost per year. and they live at least 20 years with proper care...so the question is in 15-20 years from now are you still going to be able to spend a 3-4 hours a day with it.
