Uvb they are bad because the concentrated uvb in them is too strong and is causes damage to the reptiles eyes and can burn the retinas. I’ve gone through this personally with one of my iguanas used it for a week and noticed my iguana has his eyes closed all the time didn’t move and didn’t want to eat and was very lethargic everyone told me to turn the light off 2 days later he was active and eating again. and there’s also been a big case report regarding this issue. Sometimes it gets so bad that their eyes swell and they can have permanent eye damage.

Uvb some people say these bulbs are bad, but i have used them on my snapping turtle and bearded dragon for around 1 month each because i had nothing else at the time. i heard the stories of eye problems so i wanted to switch them out immediately. but nothing ever really happened. i think you have to let the bulb burn for like a week to lower the amount of radiation and then there safe.

Uvb It isn’t that they are *all* bad. However, the UV output is very very inconsistent. You do need to monitor any animals closely if you are using one. I’d never recommend buying one, but if you already have it you don’t necessarily have to throw it away. We used one with no issues but only because we were very very lucky to have one of the few good ones. At the time we had more rescues than we had Mega-Rays and had to use it and it worked well.

Uvb the packages on the coil bulb i usedd to use state that after two weeks the uvb output is brought down to half so at that point it instructs you to put the bulb closer to the lizard at 12-18 in instead of 18-24 inches away. its more of a annoyance to have to time the coil bulbs (to protect your liz) than it is to buy a regualar mvb or stick light
exactly what Really said if you have one you may as well use it till you can find a better one its easier that way
