 BABBY IGGY FOR SALE !

I’v had this baby green iguana for about a year and i really don’t not have the patients for him.He is very scared of me and he needs alot of work that i do not have time for.I would like him to be passed off to someone who can take care of him much better than i can. It’s hard to do but i rather him be a happy iguana.

He(larry) is alittle over 1 year old. a 75 gallon tank with stand,UV and heat lamp, food dish, and wooden tree branch all for $125.

contact me at if interested.

This isn’t craigslist, and $125 is way too much to ask for.

I agree especially considering he will immediately need a new enclosure because a 75 gallon tank is too small for any iguana but a tiny baby. It sounds like you are more worried about making money off of an ig that you gave up on then finding him a good forever home. Sorry to sound rude but you are going about rehoming him the wrong way.

there is a rule on here that you are not suppose to put animals you want to sell on the forums. also it is terrible to give up on an iguana just cause its scared... its a baby. they take months to years to become loving companions.. they are not dogs and cats.

your reasons are not right. time and patience and you will have a sweet iguana

My advice? Rehome the iggy for a small adoption fee and sell the tank separately on Craigslist. You don’t want someone paying for the tank and thinking it is a suitable iguana home.

Dont just give this delicate reptile away to anyone. They may not take as good care of it as you may like. Make sure whoever takes it that you feel comfortable with. Heck, Id take him off your hands if you have no patients for him, which kills me to say. why did you get him in the first place?

I wasn’t thinking when i got him i’m only 16 and its not that i don’t love him because i do i’m an animal lover and i would like to be a exotic vet when i get older. its hard enough to give him up because i want him to be happier but other people judging me or "yelling" at me because i made a decision to sell my iguana. and i didn’t know there were "rules"..... i don’t play with him as much as i know i should because he’s very mean to me. i’d rather give him to someone who is experienced in iguanas. i’m obviously not experienced i got him at a expo in New york. i think ill sell him or put him up for adoption or to the rescue and sell everything separately

Thats understandable. Im 19 now and I got my ig when i was 18. They definitely require much more time, money, and patience than I thought they would. Its better than you give him a new home than to neglect him. Just make sure the person who adopts him is knowledgable. Ask them questions to see if they have enough space and if they know how to take care of him.
And i dont think people on here are getting on you for selling him, we all just hate to see iguanas or any animals in a home that may be inadequate. If you still want to own a reptile, try maybe a leopard gecko or something that is more tame right off the bat.

"patients" are doctors’ clients. what you seem low on is patience. i feel sad for your lizard. i fear you won’t know the right questions to ask, or the answers to them. as has already been mentioned, we are not a sales organization. i’ve got two beautiful iguanas, and i have a terrible time dealing with people who will acquire such an amazing creature on an impulse. to my surprise, he looks healthy. i hope someone who knows what they’re doing will help him out. as for you, if you "love" him, do right by him. don’t sell him and his inadequate tank to the highest bidder. i agree; sell the tank separately if it’s money you want. just because it costed you money doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for an iguana to live in.

I got my monster when i was 17 and im now 21 and had leopard geckos and didn’t think they were for me(they were so cute though). I wanted something more challenging, O boy was i right! I have had other iguanas while still having issac- who i still have. I gave them away cause i couldn’t give equal attention. I just had them for a little bit, both where from bad homes. I would say i was a foster mom lol I am just so lucky that my iguana likes to be a only child lol

True! Weve got 4 iggys. Weve spend thousands’ litteraly to make homes ( enclosures) for them big enough so that they can retire ;) in them. We spend hundreds on food, seeds, plants, flowers and vitamins. They bath and shower, swim and roam like our children in our home. Apart from them we breed beardies. No excuse for patience. Sorry but please please please buy a goldfish they rquire less attention. Not to berude. Hopehe gets a great home or you change your mind

okay. may i back up a little? the people on this forum are fiercely protective of reptiles--it’s a reaction to the common abuse that we see. that is a beautiful, obviously healthy iguana, so you’re clearly doing something right. please continue to care for it for long enough to find it the right home. i’d take him in a heartbeat if i could.

it’s sad that you’re afraid of him. i had a 6-year-old female i was scared to death of; she’d charge me and send me screaming. she never did tame down much. i chose to handle and love her anyway, but i have a LOT of experience with animals. truthfully, some of them take a very long time. however, it is the rare one who won’t respond eventually.

i apologize for my too-strong first reaction to your inquiry.

all right you guys, come on. We want people to be responsible....and that means knowing when to say, "I really can’t take care of this critter and he needs a new home". If we attack we can’t help.....I think it’s very responsible to try and find the Iggy a new home if he can’t care for him, instead of letting him sit there without care or food and letting it die just a little bit at a time. At which point one of us will rescue it so it dies a few days after. I too love our Maxine....and i too agree that animals are not toys to be thrown away. But I have seen too many critters and have had some die on me because the people said, "GOsh, I’m embarrassed that I can’t take care of it.....I don’t want to be judged or be yelled at.....I’ll just not do anything" I think it’s wonderful that he even came on here to try and find a good home for his Iggy...instead of posting it on Craigslist, he came to an Iggy forum...a place where there are people that know how to take care of an Iguana.

Oh my god people leave her alone. She’s right this place is way too jugemental! She is not caring for it properly and she knows it so she wants him to go to an experienced home such is why she posted him HERE! And everyone at her for trying to do the right thing? Come on. Not every animal is going to be on a perfect situation. So his cage is too small. He is clearly healthy. If she has decided she no longer wants the guy you can’t expect her to have invested in an expensive huge cage. If I bought an animal unsure if I’d want it forever I wouldnt dish out a bunch for it either. And don’t say she should not have gotten him in the first place because she obviously had good intentions and just didn’t realizehow much time they take. You won’t know til you try it.

Exactly here is where you can expect some stronger responses, as people love their pets. And people see too many of them getting abandoned and mistreated already.

Also some people have already appologized for coming off too strong earlier on in the tread.

"You won’t know til you try it". Disagree with that, if you do your research beforehand you could have known an iguana will be a demanding animal. Bet I can come up with lots of things you wouldn’t need to try before knowing it won’t be your cup of tea ;).

Hope the IG will find a new loving home soon, and get all the proper treatment as it seems has been getting up until now :).

I still stick with you won’t know til you try. You can read that they are demanding but you really don’t have a true idea of it until you have one. For example I always thought I couldn’t handle an iguana because of their demands but I think they are really cool animals so I gave it a try and it’s working out great. If it had not worked I would have rehomed him to someone experienced with them just like she Is trying to do. As far as I’m concerned as long asthe animal is healthy it’s lucky. His cage is too small yes but it’s not like he’s stuffed ina 20 gal or anything.

I mean I totally get where you are all coming from but the girl has the iguanas best interest at heart. I didn’t read the whole thread so I didn’t see the apologies. Im glad they all let up a bit lol.

I think Larry looks awesome and would love to give him a forever home in a heart beat, but, I have 9 reptiles now and 3 of them are male iguanas. Kayrandazzo, If you would like, PM me a contact phone number and what city Larry lives in and I’ll ask some of the keepers I know personally and see if any of them could give Larry a good home. I see Larry is in NY and I’m in PA, so maybe we are close enough to help Larry with a new home??

Not sure if you are referring to me, but I never intended to "fight". Hope people will lighten up, don’t take everything so serious and feel offended so easily.
People will always have diffenent opinions, so I see it more as a discussion than as a fight.

Anyways, hope the original poster will contact the person who posted above me soon.

Cheers!
