If they don’t use it in the wild, they don’t get it as a captive. 20-30 min. Luke/tepid warm water bath will work just fine. I would be so afraid of what soap chemicals could do to there skin/eyes? I’m sure some keepers have used soaps but as long as I’v been keeping reptiles (over 30 years) I’v never had a single issue keeping them clean and healthy with just water.

The only thing I would feel safe using if I had to use something would be a small amount of a 2% chlorhexidine solution in a full tub of water. This is used sometimes to clean animals with wounds. But what is it that you are trying to accomplish?

I just thought it would help since he poops in the water in his cage and plays in it too. I thought it might be more hygienic to use soap to wash him to keep down the spreading of feeces borne bacteria . And no, I’m talking about the hand soap not hand sanitizer. I would assume the alcohol in hand sanitizer might cause problems and would never use it on him.
