#2262605 JessiM View Profile	Update on Kazul :) well its been well over a week. i still havent really started handling him. so far the only times i have was for cleaning out the cage... becoming very curious about the humans visiting and walking by his cage. especially little emily who adores him already (just what i want to happen) he isnt very shy well... unless you go in his cage then he takes off..but other than that... you can sit there and talk to him all day and he will watch and listen to you... which is a good sign. :) he eats like a little piggy.. and got a belly to prove it lol... ive watched him eat before to make sure he was doing okay. :) dont really care about water so much only seen him visit the water bowl twice to get a sip. lol im going to wait a few months before i really start trying to handle him... i dont want to rush him at all.. ill let him take his time and get to know me pictures!

#2262631 Tempestborn View Profile	Message To: JessiM   In reference to Message Id: 2262605  Update on Kazul :) a few months?!?! oh, jess, if he’s anything like his sister, he’ll tame in the blink of an eye. sini takes a bath in the sink with penelope every morning--she also hangs out in her water dish quite a bit. she goes for my morning walk with me, her tiny head sticking out the front of my shirt, just looking around, and goes outside with me when i take penelope to graze. she loves to have her eye ridges rubbed (obviously a worldwide lizard preference). she rides around on my shoulder while i fix everyone’s food--and occasionally on my head: she’s not the least disturbed by the camera flash. the only thing that frightens her is if i reach into her cage too quickly. i always talk to her and then reach in slowly; otherwise, she’ll startle and go racing and crashing about. i still don’t put her down very much because she’s so small, just a few minutes at a time in a confined space under mommy’s watchful eye. sylvester has been threatened with death if he even looks at her cross-eyed... and of course i know you and i do things differently, and neither of us is wrong. i sure don’t have the willpower to have left sini alone. kazul does look fat and wonderful! jesse

She is sooo tiny and she really can move lightning fast. I’ll never forget how awful it was to have Kismet get out on me AND years later to have my very tiny Tazumal get away from me. It can happen in the blink of an eye! I know you are careful, Jesse -- this is mainly for new people who might be reading and thinking of taking their iggies outside.

#2262644 Tempestborn View Profile	Message To: Really   In reference to Message Id: 2262642  Update on Kazul :) i know--i’m super-careful. the little dear is fast, and too tiny for a leash. but i always have my hand cupped over her just in case she startles. i’m trying to figure how to make her a harness, but she’s so small. and now i’m worried; maybe i’d better just keep her in till she’s bigger... i’d die if anything happened to her. jesse

#2262654 JessiM View Profile	Message To: Tempestborn   In reference to Message Id: 2262644  Update on Kazul :) thats just it jesse lol he is a feisty bugger... and fast too. he isnt ready for alot of handling and will jump if i dare not pay full attention to him. so im just letting him get a bit bigger where he is easier to handle lol ... i talk to him every day though.. especially when i feed him he clams down for the most part when he is held. (for the most part lol) here are some new! pics of me holding him for a bit after i cleaned out his cage i had to hug him just so he knows i loves him lol

Sebastian has taken longer to develop trust than Kismet did. This isn’t a large enough sample, though for us to know if it is an individual thing or a gender thing. Overall, Cyclura can be difficult to tame until they are two years old. However, I am starting to think when you have the time to work with baby Cyclura the way you *have* to work with a baby green, then they do calm down much more quickly.

#2262826 JessiM View Profile	Message To: Really   In reference to Message Id: 2262810  Update on Kazul :) he does remind me of a baby green... except with out being whipped every ten seconds.and being bit and him flipping out as soon as i go near or open the cage. lol he is pretty calm to a point. lol just wiggly as heck when you get him in your hands for a few mins then he is fine..ish lol little hissing.. but that stops after rubbing his head for a bit. :)

Makes me want one lol but then again I’m trying to behave I promised bf no more pets until the tanks n cages we have are empty and since I’ve had stitch 4 yrs n he was a yr old when I got him I’m looking at hopefully another 15 years but you 2 are making it really hard lol

#2262945 Tempestborn View Profile	Message To: Calico   In reference to Message Id: 2262894  Update on Kazul :) everyone is picking on us, jess! like it is somehow our fault that we were blessed with our babies. i think we may have to launch a protest lol! sini is remarkably calm. no threat of biting, whipping, not so much as a hiss. i made her i tiny harness so she could go for my morning walk with me. i’m blessed with the time to spend with her. susan says cyclura seem to be calmer than greens as a general statement, and of course we all know what moody brats greens are. i am very good at taming things; it’s been an all my life thing. as a child, i could walk up to wild deer in the woods. so i don’t know if my taming experience with anything is typical. even my monster female, lily, got dressed up and went through the pet store tucked under mommy’s arm. donatello was pretty tame when i got him and i took him everywhere with me for the first several months (until i got a job). comparing sini to all three greens i’ve known, i think she is calmer, but i also think everything always depends on everything else. anything will tame down if you have the time and the touch to give to the task. jesse

WE MUST POST MORE PICS OF THEM LOL !! i hope to start working with him more...emily is helping a great deal with him getting use to ppl she plays with her toys right in front of his cage so he can see her...and even jabbers to him..and waves and says HI and night when its time for bed... she is such a good girl.. they are going to be best of friends.. ^^

#2263044 Calico View Profile	Message To: JessiM   In reference to Message Id: 2263039  Update on Kazul :) Haha yes we all blame you two no protests! lol but its just cuz their so cute I still think my stitch boy is a gorgeous boy I fell in love with his picture and kept saying to my friends that I wanted one that looked like "her" and then I was able to get her it was fate just like you guys and yours I think I needed someone to need me my doggy meeka is so independent she takes care of me lol so I feel blessed even if he is attitude on wheels... For my next iggy I think I’ll try to find a cuban cyclura (spell check?) I was reading that they seem to be the calmest and bf thinks they look like mini dinosaurs so he’s cool with it too but that will be a long time from now lol got me day dreaming but it was actually after we saw a cyclura in the pet store n bf thought he was cool Stitch is the only pet I’ve ever had a problem training I once had a duck peepers who I trained to sit and quack on command and she would go on walks no leash or n e thing with me and I was like 8 when I did that she was cool but she had to live outside when I found out I’m allergic to birds they make my eyes swell shut :( I think he was sent to give me patience lol that is awesome to be able to raise emily and Kazul together! and yes you must post more pics otherwise I’ll have to get my fix at my reptile store and that will lead to no good lol so I demand pics pretty please :)

#2263092 Tempestborn View Profile	Message To: JessiM   In reference to Message Id: 2263077  Update on Kazul :) it’s wonderful that emily loves him. it’s so important to raise children with a love and veneration for animals; if they have that, they’ll be good and kind and decent to humans as well. and it sounds like kazul understands that she is innocent and harmless. we are indeed unexpectedly blessed. i had never even considered a lewisi till i started really talking in detail with susan about them. but before you guys all go out and get lewisis, remember there should be kismet/sebby (i couldn’t figure out how to spell the combined name) babies next year. that is something worth waiting for! jesse

I know the pic was in the other post but I still wanted to mention that! Well thats not fair a sebbykismet baby would be amazing now that makes it hard to keep my no more pets promise!!! lol okay I’ll wait for more pics gotta get one of him watching miss emily play!

HAHA! his reaction was a trip... he started bobbing at me.. quick little jerking bobs.. and made him self look all big.. lol im like well well we got a bit of attitude with you huh... you can bob and puff all you want.. cause i know what your saying and i know you are not a fighter. lol and he crawled away. haha! i guess he didnt like my response being not scared of his tiny self .lol he is to funny..
