 Turning white
I have noticed that Arokh is slowly turning white on me, it started from the tip of his nose and now is moving along on his back with the spines. Any ideas why? I had read that certain igs from certain areas can turn white, is this what im seeing or do i need to make a vet visit? i think i may as well live at the vets with how much ive been there lately lol.
this is shortly after i first got him i think this was taken in december
and this was maybe 2 months ago
and these were taken today
Notice along his back right behind his neck, its def not him getting ready to shed and this isnt an all of a sudden type of thing. is he starting to get his adults colors maybe?i also cant help but notice how manly he is starting to look!especially in the face and neck region. he seems like he is also growing out of that flighty juvenile stage since he doesnt freak out everytime my hands come near him while hes in his cage, or maybe hes starting to finally really trust me. either way its an improvement lol!

lol if he turned all white i would have saved $3000 and prob have to rub that in Tom C’s face lol! well look at that, i rescued a magical albino iguana haha! I cannot say im a fan of him, i respect him in ways, but to me he seems like an iguana version of a puppy mill. i could be dead wrong but its just the vibe i get when i hear of others dealings with him...it seems like its only about the money. but anyway yes it would be awesome if he turned all white as long as it isnt something thats hurting him somehow.

well since he isnt acting any different and seems perfectly healthy i guess im going to see if i can find any other info about this online before i call the vet...i think he is just going through iguana puberty and becoming a man lol. but if anyone else has any ideas please chime in. my vet isnt even in til monday anyway so as long as its not hurting him im ok...i kinda like it, it makes him look like an old man haha!

IMO, I think it looks just like the start of a shed. That 3rd picture to me was the give away especially around the mouth area!
You will see some stripping start to appear before he continues to get the juvie/adult coloring!

i really dont think its a shed, this has been slowly happening for a while and he has shed since ive noticed it. he sheds alot lol. most of his head just shed 2 days ago so im pretty sure thats not what it is, but i could be wrong...i often am lol. after relooking at some adult pics ive noticed alot of them have white/greyish heads so im thinking thats what it is...hes just growing up so fast. it will be 5 months tomorrow that ive had him and i just am amazed at how much hes grown! it seems like hes making up for his previous lack of care before i got him by growing at an amazing rate, i swear i can see him growing before my eyes haha!

Tazumal has a similar thing going on as far as color change, but instead of white, his head has gotten black as he has gotten older. It appears to be just weird coloring. Just watch it for now. I’m going to ask my vet to look at it on our next visit, but for now it doesn’t really seem to be an issue.

LOL....I read this thread on my phone ....It’s a shed ..!! The extra moisture ( a good thing) collects under the old skin and aides the process ....in turn the skin turns whiteish / grey

I will take that bet lol. I swear its not s shed. He literally just shed his head and his tail is in the process now. His tail looks nothing like his head. I’ll see if I can get some pics when his lights go on for comparison.

Maxines head and spikes always turn white and they take the longest to shed...the spikes always take the longest to come off...

i couldnt imagine how he would be, he cant touch his MVB or his CHE. it can get pretty warm right under them, but not really hot, i would say t most 110-115 on the warmest day, which he will either go to the side or lower in his cage to thermoregulate. he barely just sits right under his light...he goes to the parts that are in the high 80s-90s to be lazy lol
