#2265573 Alxbz View Profile	URGENT HELP PLEASE IT’S TAIL FELL OFF. I’m so upset right now I yelled at my nephew so bad. I was giving it a bath and my nephews been bugging about helping me he’s 5 well long story short a shampoo bottle fell on its tail and it chopped it off. What should I do??? Do I put anything on it??

This happens quite often just keep the area clean and use any triple antibiotic or neosporin just make sure none of them has pain killers in it, and occasionally give your iguana a iodine bath just turn the bath water the color or tea until it has healed.

#2265583 Tempestborn View Profile	Message To: IguanaRama   In reference to Message Id: 2265581  URGENT HELP PLEASE IT’S TAIL FELL OFF. i hope this doesn’t cause your baby trust issues; he’s been through a lot of changes in his time with you. unfortunately, sometimes a baby loses its tail. maybe since it has happened when he (i hate to call him "it") is so young, he’ll grow up and it’ll hardly even show he ever lost it. just a suggestion: it sounds to me like that little guy could use some peace and quiet. you might want to tread lightly except for care for a little bit. don’t worry--you’re not a bad person. accidents happen. jesse

I was so upset and couldnt stop thinking of all the what ifs so I ended up just getting into bed and sleeping which also gave houdini quiet. Ive litteraly had nightmares about its tail breaking when I first got it and now it happened. The breakage is near the end but it still lost 4 1/2 inches of its beutiful tail. hopefully most of it grows back poor little guy has been through so much and its not even been a month. I had already drained the tub and was atempting to take it out but it would move away as I tried to grab it nd it ran to the end of the tub which was when my nephew accidntly pushed the shampoo bottle. if i had just got it the first time i tried grabbing it wouldnt of happened but cant think of all the what ifs:/ thanks for the info both of u.

As young as he is, hopefully it will heal nicely and the color difference won’t be as noticeable. When Mayan was a baby he got too close to the cockatoo’s cage and lost 8 inches of tail! As an adult he still had quite a nice tail, albeit shorter than it might have been. The dark end blended nicely and he looked fine. Accidents happen. He’ll be okay.
