Levi’s vet experience Levi went to the vet today for the 1st time (at least since weve got him 2 weeks ago and possibly in his life) and he was an absolute ANGEL! The vet said he is healthy and everybody in the office couldnt get enough of him! the vet techs were taking pics of him lol. He got dewormed, the worms he had were tapeworms btw. and he didnt even fight while she was giving him the oral meds! so now that the worms are taken care of hopefully he will gain some weight, he is only 4.4 pounds right now. I brought my friend Jackie because i was anticipating it being a disaster in the car and vets office lol. he sat in her lap then climbed up on the dash and relaxed and watched the world pass by haha! he was so good we stopped at the pet store on the way home and bought him a new bowl. im just so so proud of him!
he just loves his aunt Jackie!

and he likes his new bark bowl he got for being a good boy lol

Levi’s vet experience Wow way to go Levi!!!! :D I took a big sweater and towel to my adopted ig’s first vet appointment because I thought the same thing you did, it was prob the 1st one and prob going to be terrible but he was very relaxed despite the vet poking around thermal burns etc. Sounds like you got just as lucky!! Love his name and glad he’s found a much better forever home :)
Wish they’d somehow invent a harness for igs that doesn’t bend the spikes.

Levi’s vet experience haha i had the same idea, we both wore hoodies and had the towel and even thick garden gloves, and we didnt even need them...but the towel came in handy for that cold metal table lol! we really did luck out, now if only i can get Mr. Grumpy Pants aka Arokh to settle down i would be the luckiest girl in the world lol! this harness i got isnt too bad if its on right. it has some room above his body where the clasp slides down that doesnt mess with his spikes at all...IF its on right lol, which after a day of crawling all over the vets office and all over mommy and aunt Jackie in the pet store and car, it moved around and did mess with his spikes. i have an actual iguana harness for arokh and i dont like it, but this one is for dogs but it has a metal thing that slides up and down to tighten that leaves a perfect V above his spikes if your holding the leash. this is the one

i took the little daisy off so he didnt think it was a treat lol!

Levi’s vet experience Oh ok ,so the part that is flopped over his spike in the pic is just the leash part that you would normally hold up? Hhhmm may need to find me one of these. In the past I’ve used reptile harnesses and they were ok .. It was basically just a little leather strap with 2 leg holes cut into it .. it as a little sliding ball that you move down to tighten it. I really want to take my ig out this summer for some natural UV but until I know how he’s going to react I’d feel much better if he were on a leash! My vet laughs when I come in with my backpack of ’supplies’ aka my sweater, a towel, treats and some literature about disinfectants I wanted to run by him hahaha. Better to go prepared then come out with your arms torn to ribbons LOL And thankfully I’m not there very often so I often take in articles regarding certian health conditions and stuff to discuss. Years ago when I first got an ig I took in food charts and everything just to ensure I was on track. It’s nice to have a vet you can trust and talk to! It’s sad when people get these animals and then only look for a vet after things go wrong and its wonderful when our little monsters behave during these trips! :D

Levi’s vet experience Oh he def loved the car ride. I’m going to have to take him on more. I’m actually talked to mt boss today so Levi may start coming to work with me. He seems too love the attention he gets in public and he will be a great way to educate customers on iguanas. We don’t sell them at our store because we don’t have the room they need and we get people in there who think they stay little ( or the famous " they only grow as big as their tank" I heard that again today) and ee dont sell animals to uneducated people at mu work but people come in and ask about them.I’m going to have to build him a little hang out spot with a basking light and such. If anyone has any good ideas or a portable iguana hangout let me know lol.
