My mother’s idiot cat scared my baby almost to death!

I had Oscar my baby iggy out visiting with my family in the kitchen when my mother’s huge tom cat came in and jumped up on the counter causing my iggy to jumpy from my mom’s hand directly to my chest then leaping directly onto our hard wood floors. Thankfully my brother was able to stop him from getting somewhere were we wouldn’t be able to reach him and I got him to put him back in his cage and when I put him on his top basking shelf he literally fell off and straight to the bottom and is now hiding in the corner under a branch. I don’t want to stress him out more by trying to get him out but do y’all think he’s ok. The cage is 6ft tall so it was a pretty big fall for such a little iguana...should I be worried?

iggies are very hardy and strong creatures... ive had a few do that to me. just keep an eye on him if you notice anything wrong call the vet.

cats can be such tormentors to an iguana, and a fatal predator. i would leave him be in his cage for a while and let him calm down. a scare like that probably has him out of his little skin.

just watch him and talk to him in a soft calm gentle voice.. but keep your hands out of the cage for a while until he is settled. handling him more might cause more stress on him.

As long as he is healthy, he should be fine. He’ll definitely need time to calm down like JessiM said. The only time I’ve heard of iggies breaking bones in a fall like that is if they already have MBD.

Cat scared my baby Iguana---tail whipping my mother!

Now he won’t stop tail whipping my mom and taking snaps at her. i’m assuming because she was the one who was holding him when he got scared last night. It makes me feel good that he doesn’t take a go at me when I reach for him and hold him, but he really is scared of my mom now which makes her really sad.
