 Mood swings

Jayden is about 3 1/2 to 4 years old I rescued him from a pretty bad situation about 6 months ago.
I found him in a dog crate with no food or water left in and abandoned house in 40 degree weather, I thought he was dead when I found him. To my surprise he was some how still alive, barely but he was. Now months later he has made a 100% turn for the better, he has some scars that will always be there but his is very beautiful. I have been able to tame him down enough to pet him, feed him by hand and sometimes pick him up, but here in the last month he has started to charge me just out of the blue.... I haven’t changed anything... He is shedding could that be it? Also I just noticed while changing his water, which is a 10gal litter pan so he can swim in it, that their were little brown stone looking things, almost like a terrarium sand in his water, but he has no substrate in his tank... do I need to be concerned? I did take him to a vet to make sure he is making progress and they did blood work, removed an abscess he had when I found him and the vet said he was very healthy and I must be doing everything right... so I’m not sure what this is... should I take him back in?

It might be a good idea but bring what you found with you so the vet can see. Btw thumbs up on the rescue!

Good for you for rescuing the poor guy. Some igs are just not very social, particularly if they’ve had a rough start. It sounds a bit like breeding season though.

Agree..Sounds like season to me too. And if it is then it is something you will just have to put up with until he calms back down or should I say, returns to normal..

As for the brown pebble things in his water pan, 2 things come to mind for me. It could be plugs from him being in season or it could be his urates. Urates will become very yellow and have small round pebbles in them if the iguana is dehydrated. Not an uncommon thing to see during season. Do keep an eye on it though. If it does not sound like either of these then a vet visit would be the next choice for me.

Could you perhaps get a picture of this? It is stuff like this that is very helpful on forums and situations like this are rarely discussed in any of the care sheets or books that you can find. It tends to come more from experience’s.

It has not happened again sense the last time but if it does I will for sure take a picture of it. I didn’t even think about breading, thank you guys so much... I have become very attached to him and want to keep him as healthy as possible. He is usualy pretty sweet, he is pretty nervous about being held but once he got on to my shoulders he would hang out for hours before this started so im hoping that it will pass.
