Mood swings
I found him in a dog crate with no food or water left in and abandoned house in 40 degree weather, I thought he was dead when I found him. To my surprise he was some how still alive, barely but he was. Now months later he has made a 100% turn for the better, he has some scars that will always be there but his is very beautiful. I have been able to tame him down enough to pet him, feed him by hand and sometimes pick him up, but here in the last month he has started to charge me just out of the blue.... I haven’t changed anything... He is shedding could that be it? Also I just noticed while changing his water, which is a 10gal litter pan so he can swim in it, that their were little brown stone looking things, almost like a terrarium sand in his water, but he has no substrate in his tank... do I need to be concerned? I did take him to a vet to make sure he is making progress and they did blood work, removed an abscess he had when I found him and the vet said he was very healthy and I must be doing everything right... so I’m not sure what this is... should I take him back in? |

As for the brown pebble things in his water pan, 2 things come to mind for me. It could be plugs from him being in season or it could be his urates. Urates will become very yellow and have small round pebbles in them if the iguana is dehydrated. Not an uncommon thing to see during season. Do keep an eye on it though. If it does not sound like either of these then a vet visit would be the next choice for me. Could you perhaps get a picture of this? It is stuff like this that is very helpful on forums and situations like this are rarely discussed in any of the care sheets or books that you can find. It tends to come more from experience’s. |
