New Baby 
Getting a new baby from my store next weekend. It’s is a baby axanthic (blue) iguana. We are having our reptile rally and I have fallen in love with this little guy we got in last week. Already eating like a champ on collards, mustard’s, turnip greens, bell peppers, kiwi, mango and a few carrots while it is at the store. I have a cage in mind to build that will be 4ft tall, 3ft long and 2ft deep. Wood with a small screen and wood door to vent. Have a Sunglow 100 watt already, a large cat litter pan for water and a underwater heater to keep the water warm and bring in more humidity. About to start growing dandelion greens, mustard, collard and turnip in my yard. Zilla sells a wonderful freeze dried fruit mix for them, this way it wont go bad fast. Very excited about this little guy. It will be the first reptile I have bought in about 4 years, most of mine have been dumped and I have taken them in and either re-homed them when they are ready to go or kept the ones who cant be re-homed. Ill post pics when things move along.

Yep, I’ll get some acorn squash for it too. Naming it Nila. Means blue ocean and can be male or female so I don’t have to change it later.

I have an axanthic named Tazumal. I got him from Petco when they got them in last year. I actually had gotten two tiny babies last year, but $800 in vet bills later, my little Arwen passed away. It wasn’t Petco’s fault -- they had only had the iggies one day and they did pay for the first vet visit. I was really sad to lose Arwen though and miss her. I knew ending up with a male and a female (they’d been probed) was too good to be true.
Here is Tazumal at a year old so you can get an idea of what to expect.

Getting mine from the petco I work at. I’m the reptile specialist at the store and love all the reptiles that come in just like they are my own. Since I started working there very few of our reptiles have passed, those that due normally have a neurological disorder and have to be put down soon after we get them. The iggies got a clean bill of health from the vet when they came in so I’m happy about that. I’m also very strict on who I sell any of my critters to. I run a reptile rescue too and don’t want them coming back in a few months in a bad condition. The iggies go home in no less than a 40 breeder with strict instructions on what to do to care for them. I can’t count the number of reports I have gotten because I told a customer they could not have an animal. lol My boss is just like me and laughs them off, tells me that I’m doing a good job and goes onto the next unruly customer.

lol, this is true. My last one was really abused and had to be re-homed in a reptile rescue/sanctuary/zoo. He was housed in a bird cage in a child’s room. They would take the heat lamp and burn him with it and and older ones would wait on the other side and ripe out his spikes and toenails. The poor thing was brought to me in welders gloves and given a benadryl to knock it out for the ride. He never trusted anyone and would bash himself against the cage when anyone came into his room. He’s now in a room by himself with a waterfall and a real tree growing in the room. He’s much happier now and with this sale about to happen and us having the blue iggies I can’t resist. Cage plans have changed a little too. It will be 4ft tall by 2ft square. No not near big enough for a larger iggie but the scrap wood was given to me so I figure lets put it to use while Nila gets used to me and build a larger one in about 6 months.

Our district MG ordered them for us, we didn’t want them but can’t send them back. We haven’t had them for over a year and thought we were done with them but when we got the email they were coming we got the biggest cage we could for them and I went shopping for their food. They sent us 2 blues, 2 red and all 10 green iggs. 1 green passed the day after we got him, one we sold and two went to anther store who didn’t get any. One of the blues will be going with me next Friday and we have had some interest in the two reds and a green one. All from people with the right knowledge to keep them happy and healthy.
