 Meet Nila

S/He is about 2 weeks old. I had to get them in from another store because mine were sold to a lady who does research on them. All’s good though, they are beautiful animals and these are a little younger than the ones at my store. Mine is on the left, they are both 11 inches long, one weighs 14.2 grams the other 14.5 grams. Mine’s the smaller one, tho the other had just finished eating so they may weigh the same. lol

Yep Yep, very tiny but already have attitudes. Mine puffed up at me when I went into the back room to check on them. They are eating mustard, collard and turnip greens along with snap peas and butternut squash. And making a mess of their cage already, they had greens all over and had already pooped in their water. Both were basking together on their perch though so I’m happy.

thats a baby iggy for ya. they will have an attiude for a long while.. and only because they are unsure of you. being so little they are scared. its a natural instinct to either fight you or run like heck. so be prepared for a feisty one for a year or two. lol

Road trip next week to bring the little one to Jesse. Getting the cage built for them now, its 4ft tall 3ft wide and 3 ft deep. Large enough for lots of play and for about 6 months worth of growth out of mine. Ill get pics up when its finished. Got the frame done and 4 of the sides but it’s just way to hot right now to get the rest done.....stupid Houston weather, it’s great for iggies but sucks for getting cages built.

They are quite adorable! I hope and pray that they do well and that this year’s blues don’t have the health problems last year’s did. My advice to both of you is to watch them carefully and if you suspect that anything is wrong, run, don’t walk to the nearest reputable reptile vet.

Same here, vet on standby if anything happens.

On another note I learned a really good leasson today. Always check the door measurements before building the cage outside to cut down on noise. Went back out after a break and had to take the whole thing apart to get it back inside. Got it all done tho except for the door....any ideas. It’s wood halfway down, thinking of cutting a hole in te middle and putting screen in the top half with some hinges to swing it open. It will swing down not to the side, this way it stays out of the way when it’s open. Have two wood perches and the rest will be logs from outside.

when i first brought lily home, the reality of her coming with a 4 x 4 x 4 cage hadn’t really hit. then jim and i were standing there with the cage on the driveway, looking at the trailer door... it took three days to take it apart, move it in, and put it back together.
