 #$%^&^%$$#%^@@$!!!

would it have killed them to put instructions in the (&$*##@ thing?

the reptarium arrived today. i searched all over the box, the package; there were drawings, one of each size, no instructions. and i HATE putting *&^%$#$ together! so after an hour or so of inventing new cuss words and promising death to the designer of the reptarium, it was together. i opened up the softray i bought for it. it came with instructions. i was supposed to put the $%%^^&& softray on the outside of the reptarium, before putting the *&#$% screen on the frame! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!! i had resorted to zip ties because it wouldn’t stay unfolded on the inside. by the time i got done fighting with the thing, galadriel and elvis had already put themselves to bed. in the morning, i will take out the softray and put it on the outside where it belongs, BUT i am not fighting with that screen sack thing again, so it’ll be outside the screen, and officially proclaimed "good enough."

my entertainment center is now on the porch (and the first person that volunteers to take the #$$^^&@ thing off my porch is welcome to it). someone in my cul de sac is bound to want it. i emptied it off and moved it outside myself.

i put the t.v. on the coffee table and it promptly fell off with a crash, on its face. then i had to find something else to put it on that wasn’t the coffee table, so i moved my dresser out of jim’s room (which is when i discovered jo died last night or today. she was very old for a mouse, fat and happy. she just looked asleep--solved the question of where i was going to put the mouse if i moved the dresser).

so i hauled the t.v. (i haven’t traded up to a flat screen) up onto a chair and then up to the top of the dresser. much to my relief, it still works. now i just have to figure out where all this crap that was being stored on/in the entertainment center is going. but there’s room for the dang gigantic cage.

it is definitely impermeable; i do admire that. i cut a lightweight branch off one of my elm trees (non-toxic, edible in fact) to be a climbing branch for them. the lights are on top. i installed two hammocks up high so they will be able to get close enough to the uvb. i made another hammock out of screen to put their food, because i’m not sure they’ll want to go to the floor for it. i’m not sure where to put their water yet, maybe on a t.v. tray? i put a hide on the bottom and i’ll put their paper-towel-tube hide in when i move them tomorrow. that’s where they sleep.

i’m done for the day. my back hurts like %$#@, but i made the choice to haul all that stuff around, so i can’t really gripe (much more than i already have). once in a rare while, i question this animal insanity of mine.

I second that, I have one for my chameleon and it was a freaking pain, no instructions and some of the little plastic things cracked from me forcing them. Grrr Won’t the light burn through it? I had a friend sit a heat dome down on his floor for a sec while he opened his tank lid and burnt a hole in his carpet lol

I have 3 of the sides on mine covered in clear plastic, helps a lot with humidity (I assume this is for your ig?). Another great thing about them is they are light and easy to move so I use it outside too.

I should have mentioned that there is a video on Big Apple on how to put it together.... Or, you could have called us! I did have to have Mike put mine together.

i’d seen pics with the light on top, so i just assumed it would be ok. i checked it just now--it seems fine. it’s been on all day. the dome is just a plain 100 watt bulb; their uvb is fluorescent. i need to move the hammocks up. between the distance and the screen, i don’t think they’re getting enough uvb.

they seem overwhelmed by all the space. when i put them in they went straight up, and neither one has ventured even halfway down yet. mostly they’ve stayed cuddled up on one of the hammocks. they seem to take a lot of comfort from each other right now. it’s a shame they won’t always get along this well. i really think they’ll enjoy their branch once they investigate it. i left lots of twigs sticking out so they could run all over it. and they obviously like the screen. they can zip away from mommy like lightning! i’m going to need my big fish net to catch one!

galadriel can home in on the food dish with deadly accuracy, and her appetite is good. i haven’t seen elvis eat yet. i still have two food dishes, one on a hammock and one on the t.v. tray i put in there to put their water up off the floor.

i really did myself in yesterday. still tired. but tomorrow i’ll make sure i at least move the hammocks up. over and out for tonight.
