Thoughts on Oscar being so sleepy all the time..

So I have already posted about this but then I gave him a bath, he drank some water and perked right up. This time its been about 3 or 4 days and even in his bath he stays asleep! What do y’all think is going on!?!? Its driving me crazy! I’m thinking of having my grandfather come over and remove the glass on his enclosure and replace it with wire mesh or something so he has something to climb on...I haven’t changed his all greens diet and he always has fresh water. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? He looks perfectly healthy!

This is what Oscar’s enclosure looks like now...thats glass in the front and plexi glass on the sides..I was thinking about removing the front glass to replace it with wire mesh..maybe he would like that better?? Any ideas or thoughts are welcomed!

I could be missing it in the pic but do you have a uva/uvb light for him? Also make sure his humidity is kept up. I would bring him in to the vet though.

Yes he has both UVA and UVB lights. How do you recommend keeping the humidity up?

You can mist the cage often or put a humidifier or fogger in there. I do recommend a vet visit though.

i may look into getting fogger for him. What do y’all think about taking the glass down to put up ’chicken wire’ instead? I want him to have something to climb on but at the same time I feel like if it already is lacking humidity..opening it up with the fan in my room and all would dry it up even more than it already is. I am currently looking for a reptile vet in my area

I wouldnt use wire as it can cut their feet and they can get their toes stuck in it.

You can use wire, but not chicken wire. It is too sharp. You can use hardware cloth, but a better option is the newer plastic coated wire.

Ok sounds good. I think I will keep the glass but have it taken off and try some sort of plastic wire that he can’t fit through so he can climb around and such but not get hurt. Since misting his entire enclosure, giving him a bath, and misting him he seems to be feeling much better. I think it was just too dry. I’m going to mist 2 or 3 times a day now and see if that helps.

Do y’all think there is any possibility he may be lonely? I know that Iguana’s like to be on their own but I’m about to start working some long hours and I hate the thought of him being alone... I’m just such mommy to my babies other than my human baby! I want them all to be happy

Iguanas are perfectly fine with being solitary creatures, They don’t need another iguana or reptile to keep them company it’s more dangerous to the iguanas health to put one in there with him than it is good, Just take him to the vet he might have parasites and it’s making him lethargic and the only way to know is to get a stool sample and take it with you. Also you say you have a uvb light it’s is one of those coil ones? because I don’t see the long tube ones on top of the enclosure... if it is a coil bulb take it out now, they’ve been known to cause blindness in reptiles and that could be why his eyes are closed all the time if it’s not that then take him to the vet I see in another post you’re trying to get 100$ for another iguana but I think you should take the one you have to the vet with that money.

I was thinking it might be an MVB bulb. I never thought of a coil. If it’s an MVB, then it’s really important to know it’s age since they stop putting out UV long before they burn out.
