i don’t know where you saw they’re okay, because all the lists i find when i do a search specify it’s poisonous if eaten. then i double-checked the one i turn to most often, the aspca’s list. it’s toxic.

so you asked for opinions so you could argue with them? personally, i would err on the side of caution: if i’m not 100% about something, it doesn’t go near my pets.

You don’t want to mess with Mother Nature...err Jesse...!!
LOL

Don’t put live plants in with, use fake or nothing...they will claw it and shred it whilst climbing it....possibly eat it. Even if it is non toxic might not be so good for them to ingest. They have insecticides sprayed on them ...fertilizer liquid..and carry other creepy crawlies and gnats in the soil unless you transplant and bake the new soil. I am talking from a nursery or Big Box store.

i am sufficiently mollified...

the only live plants i trust in an iguana cage are grass and hibiscus. i grew a pan of grass from seed i ordered from turtle cafe for penelope, and it’s in the cage with her and sini now, but it never spent any time outside. i had a hibiscus in with elvis for a bit (i grew it indoors with store-bought soil, also), but it didn’t seem to thrive under his lights, so i took it back out. they get to run around in live plants when they spend their time outside (ON LEASHES).
