New and building a cage for my Iguana’s

So I build a lot of stuff using newspaper and flower AKA "Paper Mache" to make tree branches and so on. So I’m going to build a cage this week for my babies so they can grow into it and figured I should just build it big enough so they can grow into it. I’m going down the PVC path and I wanted to do some stone/rock like with "Great Stuff" foam. Now it doesn’t give off any "toxic" fumes once dried and only toxic if eaten but was going to paint over it. So my question would be Iguanas just don’t go around eating it’s surroundings correct? I will always make sure its clean and they are well feed =) As far as the bottom so it can be sprayed off i’m putting down a rubber coating as well. Whats your guys thoughts??

Ok, so I should have done more reading before buying two one red and one green. I see that they shouldn’t be housed together and if so they should have a cage at least 9 ft long 6 feet hight 3 ft deep. i’m considering just doing two cages 5-6 ft long with the other measurements would be easier to clean and move then a 9ft.

Two cages is a much better idea. They might get along during supervised free roam time, but they shouldn’t be housed together.

Thanks... The man at the reptile store told me NO problem and I should have read up. I have had bearded dragons in the past with no issues so I took him at his word.

May I suggest " GREEN IGUANA The Ultimate Owner’s Manual" by James W. Hatfield III. Lots of good info. I found mine on line for a buck.

That is an EXCELLENT book and I second the recommendation. I also suggest Iguanas for Dummies by Melissa Kaplan.

I found that book also for a buck. I haven’t gotten into it yet. I wish someone told me about these books a year ago. Anyway, better late then never they say.
