Frustrated, rant help its a long post 
i just wanted to give alittle background first by no means will i ever say i am a expert with reptiles but i have grown up around all types of reptiles and other animals and i would say im fairly experienced i never owned a baby iguana i had a large iguana a long time ago and she was the best iguana ever! the sweetest thing hense her name was sweety never had a issue i went on vacation left her in my mother’s care and she died a few days later. I was never given a real explaination why but i always knew that i wanted another iguana. Now i currently work in the "animal assistance field" and we received a call back in November of last year about a iguana being in a tree when i heard that it was a large iguana a feeling came over me that it would be mine. i waited until they brought it in and no one wanted to handle it. i think it was the largest one that has ever been brought in he was about 37 inches. well his tail is perfect and he was a beautiful orange and i thought oh my god i gotta have him and when i went up to the cage he did not get freaked out. i was able to pet him and he closed his eyes. well i called my husband and he came over and he knew that i was taking him. i gave my husband 4 days to build Dexter’s cage and it happened. well i took him home and he needed some training he was a very picky eater and didnt like to soak but still allowed me to hold him and pet him. Not one sign of aggression and he was even in mating season (he def made it known with his surprises i had to clean up each morning) lol my girls dont handle him and my husband knew he was MINE and he would make comments like you love him more than me lol or he eats better than i do. And i really really LOVE dexter i love everything about him. He is aggressive to my male dog but not the females i think its the idea of another male around. anyways he now eats like crazy and he still isnt too fond of soaking but i still put him to soak. he has a really really long leash for the yard but he doesnt like to be outside either lol we live in florida perfect weather and he goes out for about a hour does his business hangs out in the shade and bangs my door when he wants to come in. He doesnt climb any furniture in the house either. and even though i think he needs a bigger cage he doesnt spend much time in it unless its to sleep or if im out other than that he is in my yard or free roaming the house. but there is a huge change in my beautiful boy he is acting aggressive toward ME now and not to my husband :( my husband has no issues handling him but when i go next to his cage he now stands up and charges the cage. In the morning i can open the cage touch him with no issue feed him take him out for his bath put him back with no issue but come around 12pm he becomes like this. when i go next to his cage with his leash he calms down i guess knowing he is going outside and lets me put the leash on him and carry him out the minute i set him down he stands up again and begins whipping his tail and moving toward me. i never allow him to think he is in control either so i stand there and hold his leash to make sure i dont get bitten and tell him firmly Dexter NO. Lately when I go outside to get him to bring him in he does the same thing and i have to cover his eyes with a cloth so i can pick him up once in my arms i can remove the leash and bring him inside and sometimes once i pick him up his body gets real tense and he opens his mouth as to bite me. I dont know what is happening to him. I cant see myself getting rid of him just the thought makes me feel terrible i just want to fix the problem. and it is just with me and i am the one that feeds him and pets him and talks to him and loves on him. there is a reptile convention coming next month and im going to go to see if someone can help me but if someone has a clue here what is going on with my boy or some suggestion please help me. Its all i have been thinking about lately. I have been handling him much more and having more him and me personal time with no dogs or kids around to freak him out but WHY THE SUDDEN CHANGE.

maybe hes back in mating season? the first season where you said he was tame could have been a stressful time if he was just moved so he wouldnt necessarily show aggression. now that he is accustomed to his environment he is comfortable being aggressive during mating season.

but it was in november when he was in the season i have had him for 8 months now. (and i think i wrote 6 on my new to forum post but anyways) and he isnt showing the normal semen surprise in the morning as if he is in that season. and this has been happening for a couple of weeks already and its gradually getting worse and im getting so concerned.

It is possible that good care and the right diet sent him into a new breeding season... This is especially true if he gets lots of real sunlight.

Yes he does get tons of sunlight. How long would the season last then? And wouldnt he be leaving me a sign that he is in heat?,or sometimes they don’t do this? Should I not give him so much natural sunlight then?
