UVB well, I have his cage right by my sliding glass door, so he gets the sun from that as well. I can’t let him go outside cuz i live in an apartment. I just wanting to make sure 5% would ne enuf.

UVB having him by the window is great but UVB doesn’t penetrate through glass . He will only benifit from it IF his enclosure is a screen or open kind and no glass between him and the sun .

UVB 5% is fine for a uv light as long as he can get close to it. Windows do filter out the sun and it is actually dangerous to have them near it if they are in a glass or very enclosed tank/cage. If they are in a wire or mesh cage it probably won’t matter.

UVB If they are in a tank or a glass enclosure, the sun can heat up the cage and kill your ig. Glass traps heat. If it’s a screen cage, you dont need to worry about it.

UVB his cage never gets hotter than 95 though. Do you really think it’s necessary?? I mean, he is in a glass tank, but it never gets to hot. Well, I guess that would depend on how hot is to hot I guess. I was also wondering what plants were safe to put in his cage?? I’ve been wanting to do now for some time, just kept forgetting to ask.

UVB You never know how hot it will get in the middle of the day when you are not there....his tank can act like a magnifying glass and kill him. I have read several posts from people who unfortunately found this out the hard way. I would move him to a different location, and let him bask near the window outside of his cage now and then....he will enjoy looking out the window and it is a good way to let him have time outside his cage when you are home.
