 Iguana sos asap!

my friend found a injured iguana today in the median of the street walking in circles hes about 3 feet long tail included and has a eye injury i think he will loose his eye i belive he was attacked by something (kid, bird, etc.) but i would like to know what would be the best course of action to do for him i do not currently have the money to take him to the vets but i just want to know what i can do for him besides the scab he looks fairly healthy and gave me a scratching from hell i dont mind taking care of him but until a couple weeks i wont have the money for a vet visit what should i do? triple antibiotic cream? he is currently outside in a fenced in patio in a tree (dont worry i live in miami) thanx for reading and any advice will be greatly appreciated
p.s. i already know what to feed him

Well ill try and make a few suggestions. As I live in Canada i dont know if they are wild down there but they are not very hard to take care of if bread captive(I do not condone keeping of wild animals). however, they can get pissed off real quickly as you already found out. There are some great care sheets on this site over ten i think but they have some great info in them and they are put there by extremely experienced people who take care of these animals. And i dont want to sound like a jerk for saying this but id try and find someone who rescues reptiles and things and give it to them they mite be able to take a bit better care of it. you never know how much stress the animal’s been through and keeping it might just stress it to death. any ways whatever you do good luck with it .

i agree. it’s a great thing that you cared enough to help the poor guy out, but he does need immediate vet care. i would try to find a reptile rescue that’s willing to take him. it’s in his best interest to get to a vet asap.

Here:
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/states/florida/counties/monroe_county/cities_neighborhoods/florida_keys/5344396.htm?1c

Its a story about the problem of iguanas in FL I dont know how close you are to the keys (i’m very unfamiliar with FL) but the animal control officer did state at the end that they want to take them and rehome them. If you can get it to them, make sure first that they wont put him to sleep due to his injuries. If they do, let me know and i’ll do more research looking for iguana rescuers.

Also, here:
http://www.iguana.com/testimonials2.shtml

This is a testimonial about some book, but the first testimonial is from a small-scale iguana rescue from someones house in Miami. If you can find someway to get ahold of her, she would probably take your ig.
