 Laying Eggs

Hi,

My female iguana, Snooki, started laying eggs on Fri. night. (It’s her first time) She passed around 15 (?) and waited hours. Last night (Sat.) she layed another 4 or 5 (?) but still has what looks to be at least 5 more to pass. We tried mineral oil to help her pass the ones last night. She seems to be waiting again.

She is not acting fatigued or stressed. She’s acting like her normal, energetic self and has been drinking a lot of water.

Can anyone give me any other suggestions on getting her to pass the rest of her eggs. I’m hoping this can be done without having to take her to the vet. If anyone has any helpful hints Snooki and I would really appreciate it.

Thanks! :-)

Doreen

 Laying Eggs

hi there... question: are you giving her mineral oil by mouth? i’m not sure that it’s safe to do that-check w/ a herp vet. also, where is she laying them? usually igs need soft moist dirt and sand mixed together to dig in and lay the eggs. it’s reccomened to put this mixture of organic potting soil and wet sand in a large garbage can turned sideways so the ig can crawl inside and dig in privacy.
it seems like your ig is laying them w/out any problems. are you sure she isn’t finished? give her some privacy, plenty of water and keep an eye on her that she isn’t freaking out and scratching a lot, or fatigued/depressed looking. i would still call a herp vet and let them know what’s going on, and if she doesn’t pass the rest by tommorrow you may have to take her in anyway.
