Caging Question I am adopting a 6 foot Iguana on Monday June 12. I am building an enclosure for it this weekend. Are these dimensions big enough? 6 Feet tall, 6 Feet long, and 4 Feet wide? He is just so big and requires a lot of room. Are those dimensions big enough for him? Thanks
Zach

Caging Question Thats the standard iguana cage size, but if you want to go bigger, feel free! Your new friend will be quite pleased.

Caging Question wow sounds like a great animal, do you know him or is this an adoption over through adoption services. I think my fiancee and I are turning the back part of our dinning room into a big cage for a play room for Sammy and a possible home for a big one that needs us. Good Luck with your new iggy.

Caging Question
Thanks everyone for your help. Well I plan on taking him out everyday for a couple of hours and let him free roam. The only time he will be in his cage really just for sleeping and when I am not home. So he will def be out and about and getting plenty of exercise.
He is an Iguana through a women I researched call Powers Iguana Rehabilitation. It is right by my house so it was perfect. All I know is that he is huge, his name is Murray, he is a deep orange all year round and is puppy dog tame even during breeding season. He is a little aggressive towards female owners and female Igs. But is extremely friendly towards male owners. So good for me, I cannot wait to spoil him rotten. lol

Caging Question My girl Sweet Pea will let herself out if I don’t get home in time for her to catch some sun by the sliding glass door.

Caging Question so are those demnsions ok if I take him out almost all day amd he would just really need to sleep in his cage? I just want to make sure, because I can make it bigger if I need to.

Caging Question wow, 6 feet is pretty big, even for most igs! i would make the cage bigger. maybe add another foot to the height and width. if you are going to free roam your iguana, make sure there are high places set up for him to climb and bask under a UVB light and plenty of heat. his basking spot also needs to be 90-95 degrees. when he sleeps his temps need to drop to 80-85 degrees. you also need to potty train your ig if he’s a free roam. mine is trained even though she is caged. it’s just neater that way. be sure that your room is "iggy proofed", i.e., no small ingestable objects lying around, fragile objects or things that could fall if your ig climbs them, stuff that could fall on him, etc. igs are troublemakers as you probably know.

Caging Question Well he already is potty trained even though he is caged. I would say he would be a free roamer, I would just take him out and spend a lot of time with him each day. My Den is Iguana proof so I probably could just let he walk around up there.
I just realized that I cannot really make the cage bigger. I can only increase the length 6 inches, and I don’t really think that would make a huge difference. Thanks for all of your help.
