Great escape!!!!!!! Just thought if was funny

Today I desided to wash the carpet in the livingroom at what Sammy thought was his time to be running free. Since I would not be able to spend the time watching him I opted for leaving him in his cage until I was finished. I finished and desided to take a quick bath and relax. I heard some strange ramblings in the living room but thought nothing of it since my Joe is home right now and he is always doing something somewhere in the house. When I got out of the tub the dog, was looking at me like "you got to see this" and then running into the living room and then returning with the same look on her face. I went to the bedroom to dress and the dog repeated the odd behavior. Finally I gave in and went to where the dog was standing in the entry and looked into my living room. Sammy’s door is still closed and the hook is still on but all the fake foliage on the top of the cage is now on the floor, all my medieval lamps and candle sticks are all over the floor(they are suppose to be on the fireplace mantle), all the pillows from the couches are everywhere and one of my large plants is on it’s side with dirt all over the carpet. I could not believe my eyes and just stood there in shock. My son came into the entry and stood behind me saying, so are we killing the cats or should i just help clean up. I told him to spare his kitty we would clean it all up together. Half way through the cleaning my son noticed that Sammy was not in his cage. Paniced I started looking under anything that had a half inch or more space. no Sammy, we searched the house, no Sammy. I began to cry and could not figure out how he had gotten out of the cage and then out of the house. My son and I have been searching for about an hour now and no Sammy. My husband phoned home(he is a trucker and on the road all the time) and I sat down to talk to him and explain why I sounded so upset when i looked up at the fireplace by the ceiling and there clinging to the rocks was a rather pleased Sammy. He looked at me as if to say, "Hey mom look how high I got". I got him down and put him back in the cage after some hugs and mommy lov’en and began to investigate a possible escape path. Still baffled I sat on the couch and watched him. He went straight to the door and pryed his head to that it bent out just enouph for him to get his hands on the wire mesh outside and pulled himself straight through. We now have the top, middle and bottom lock system on the cage and Sammy is not happy with the new adjustments to his door.

Moral of this cage story: If there is a will there is a way.

Hee hee...thanks for sharing. Yes...iguanas are super intelligent and great escape artists, didn’t you know? You do now anyway! They are also very clumsy and knock everything down to climb stuff. You can just see the gears turning when Slee sits there, looking around the room. You know he is plotting something. Soon after that, the mayhem begins. Here he is much younger, climbing our french doors.

Hehehehe, its like Midori’s Great Escape, only instead of from her cage, she zipped out of my hand while I was hand-feeding her and managed to get all the way back behind a dresser and wedge herself halfway up the back corner!! Dad had to help me get her out of there and then she ran over his foot and into under the covers on my bed. I managed to catch her then and thats when she got tossed back in her cage. Sneaky little thing.

Yeah and once you get hold of them again an scold them, they’re like, "What’s YOUR problem?" ROFL We put Eisa into a huge dog kennel that hubby found. I’ll post pics soon. But he meshed every side -so we thought. 4 times in one day she got out. Chased her around the baseboard heat and scolded her. Put her back and added more zip ties to any open spaces. Sure enough, when we came back yesterday night from my kids’ ball games, another empty cage! I started vacuuming cause last time I gave up looking and stared vac’ing she climbed up our fake Dracena tree. That’s how we found her. this time she got all the way into the living room. Our littlest one yelling, "I found Eisa!" Way up on the curtain rod doing a balancing act. e grabbed her and started scolding her and she’s all opening her mouth and wha-pawing us with her tail--but not very hard. I’m telling her, "Okay Ms. Vicious you go ahead, you are not impressing me." So I’m sure today she’ll do it again. But this last time, sure enough she pulled out the foliage we had stuck on a space to block it and climbed out. ARGGGGHHHH!!!!

i used to have a huge plexiglass cage w/ wood molding around it. problem was, the plexi had cracked on many of the pieces and there were a few 1/2 inch openings. my iguana was about 4 feet 5 inches when this happened-she managed to squeeze her head through the opening, and break the already cracking plexi enough to escape! i just sat there and watched her do this, because i really wanted to see if she was gonna do what i thought she was gonna do... and she did! another time she climbed the mesh top upside down and attempted to get out of the top. she got her head stuck and broke a spike. i wasn’t to happy about that, or trying to pry her down w/out hurting her or me... those sneaky igs are always plotting and scheming!!

neros in one of those gigantic bird aviaries in my bedroom,, well one night i come home, and i see the cage door open, and no nero.. 3 hours later i find him layin with one of my cats on the back of the sofa.. and the minute i put him back in, he went to the door, used his little iguana claws to pull back the bolt lock, and came out.. so i put a padlock on the top door, figuring that he hadnt discovered the second door yet.. 3 days later, i had to hunt for him all over again, and watched him get p.o’d at the locked doors of his cage, bobbing at them for all hes worth, like, hey yo, do you KNO who i am? you BETTER open up
