My naughty little iggy Hi, I’ve been here before and answered some questions about feeding/housing etc. Well, now I’m the one that needs some help. I have a small iggy, about 8 inches from snout to vent, and he’s a little stinker! I’ve had him since Nov, 10 2004. He was a b-day present. He’s in a nice cage, good diet and everything, but he just won’t tame down. I can take him out and he’ll sit on my hand without being retrained, but he still gives open-mouth threats and constantly tail whacks me. And he’ll bolt off if I try to get him on my other hand. Any suggestions for taming the little stink?

My naughty little iggy Spend 10 minutes at a time with him several times per day. Give treats. Earn trust. There really is no easy way to do this. It just takes time and patience. You need to make your expereriences with him positive yet show no fear. Don’t let him think that tail whipping or threats are going to keep you away or scare you. Good luck. It can take a year....some are more fiesty.

My naughty little iggy No, I don’t let him think he’s scary(well, to me he’s actually kinda cute when he does that :D. Now that I’m home for summer, I can work with him every day. He’ll never take treats from my hand though, he won’t even eat his salad in front of me. Also, do you think he might be able to learn by example? I have a frilled dragon that is really tame and friendly. Maybe I can handle and pet the frilled in front of the ig and he’ll maybe consider it?

My naughty little iggy I’m not sure that would work...might make him more nervous about the frilly. I’m not sure they can make that connection. Now that you can spend more time, hopefully the taming will progress.
