 The cutest thing!

Oh my God, this is the cutest thing I have ever seen!
I wish I could post a pic, but picture this:
My nearly-2-foot iguana, Odie, and I sitting at the computer desk. Odie is frightened, as usual, and I let him sit on the desk. Well, I figure, ’what if he’s hungry?’ So I go get this thing from the fridge that my mom bought me called a salad condiment package, containing carrots, celery, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, I think some sort of lettuce, and radishes. I put some on a plate and take it to Odie. I set him on the plate. Within seconds, he snatched up a piece of the carrot. Then a piece of cauliflower. Then a piece of carrot, and some broccoli. I am simply amazed- I didn’t think he would eat off the plate with me standing right there! Oh my goodness, I had the biggest smile on my face and I didn’t move the whole time s/he was eating... oh man, that was amazing!!!
I’m sorry, it’s the first time I’ve ever tried that with Odie, and it worked wonderfully.
I was also thinking about how amazing Odie actually is. I love this iguana, and I will give him the greatest life possible... I love him/her so much...
I’m sorry, I had to say all that. Oh, BTW, I am back!

thats really good, but is that all you feed him? Whats even better is when they trust you enough to take food from your hand. Iggy loves being hand fed, and some times trys to take my fingers and clothing with they food lol. I’m glad that your ig is starting to trust you more!

That is very cute. Keep in mind, though, that nearly all of those things you fed him are "occasional" foods only, to be fed rarely.

No, it’s what I’m feeding him till I can get to the store to get some other stuff. I can go get him some lettuce and squash and whatever else tomorrow, I get paid then. But yeah, he takes food from my hand now, I kinda have to open his mouth a little but he eats. I love my ig. :)

i’m glad to hear that your ig is warming up to you! i also have to agree that, those items you were feeding him are not very good. i know you are waiting to get to the store, but in the future don’t feed him cauliflower or broccoli. they are high in phosphorous and goitregens. this will prevent calcium from absorbing. celery really doesn’t have any nutrition, and carrots are also high in phosphorous but can be fed in moderation. you mentioned getting him squash, which is a good supplemential food, but you also said lettuce, which isn’t good at all.
greens that should be used are collard, mustard, dandelion greens, turnip greens and chicory. the lettuce is like junk food for them and doesn’t contain any nutrition, but they can get almost an addiction to it and won’t want anything else. other veggies are good to add as like, 40 percent of their diet. some good examples are: snow peas, colorful bell peppers (mine loves red & yellow), yellow or orange squashes, yams, green beans, yucca & parsnips. fruits can make up around 30 percent. use sparingly- some are mango, papaya, figs and berries. just no citrus- too acidic for them. hope this helps! hope you have more adventures feeding him soon!

I didn’t mean iceburg lettuce, I meant romaine lettuce. Is that good or is it bad?

Lettuce of any kind isn’t really any good. It’s water, and that’s about it. Get better greens. Collard, turnip, mustard, dandelion-- At my grocer, they’re cheaper than the lettuces anyway, which makes me happy. :-)
