NEW ADDITION!!!!! He is quite handsome...congrats.
If that is his current enclosure, I would highly suggest replacing that chicken wire or you will have an iguana with a lot of missing toes and a bloody, scarred face. That stuff is too sharp and dangerous. Hardware cloth can cause some of the same problems but not quite as bad. Rubber coated wire is better if you can find it. Or wood, plexi, glass, melamine, etc are all good materials.

NEW ADDITION!!!!! He is a beauty! I just went over to look at the male we are taking home probably next week. He was in a cage with chicken wire and was fine. The only time I think they can bloody themselves is when the are aggressive and lashing around in there. You had mentioned you were going to let him out most of the time, that he was mainly going to sleep in there so he will be fine.

NEW ADDITION!!!!!
Absolutely wonderful, what a handsome boy! Kudos for taking on an older ig, most people don’t want the extra work or space, I think they’re better bigger, hatchlings freak me out, lol

NEW ADDITION!!!!! he’s very handsome indeed! i agree w/ zechriel, i prefer larger igs over the babies. i couldn’t wait for mine to get big! also, the chicken wire is sharp enough to cut an ig’s face from rubbing, and should he decide to go climbing, he could really hurt a toe.

NEW ADDITION!!!!! I am serious when I say that chicken wire is a very bad material. Most herpers avoid the stuff. It really does not leave any room for an accidental nose rub or climb... Handle it regularly yourself and you will see that it is quite sharp. Hardware cloth, although not my favorite, is safer and not very expensive.
It looks like you have a great iguana there. I hope you have some happy times together!
