 Clubtail iguanas

I have a couple of clubtail iguanas. Mine are young and only about 12 inches long right now but they don’t exceed 18 inches in total length. Awesome, active little lizards to keep but not very good if you want something that you can handle alot. They are QUICK!!!

You could keep a single animal in a 20 gallon long but bigger is better. The minimum size that I would keep a single animal in would be a 40 breeder.

Here’s a photo of the larger of my two Clubtails. The latin name is Ctenosaurus quinquecarinata, quite the mouthful! They are fast as lightning and fun to watch.

They are mainly herbivores but can have the occasional insects. I would not feed them dog or cat food!

Dog/cat food is REALLY REALLY bad for green iguanas!!!!!!
They are not made to take in animal protien. It could hurt their kidneys.

Green iguanas should NOT have any dog or cat food...or animal protein of any type. Please tell your cousin this...his iguana will have kidney problems and it will shorten his life.

The base of the tail is very similar to a Uromastyx, but the tail on a Clubtail iguana tapers much fast to a very slender tip.
