| MBD is metabolic bone disease...one of the most common but not so nice problems they can get. It is treatable although if deformaties have developed, sometimes they don’t go away (crooked spine etc.) Abcesses are one sign as well. I would say he more than likely has it. There are a couple changes you need to make. 1. Don’t feed chicken or eggs anymore. Although this doesn’t cause MBD necessarily, it damages the kidneys. They cannot process animal protein correctly. They are vegetarians. 2. Your collards and mustard greens are the start of a great diet. You can add or switch around other calcium rich greens like escarole, endive, watercress, dandelion as well. (no spinach) All squash is good although the harder it is to cut, the better it is or so it seems! You can add snow peas, green beans, and a little fruit as treats like mango, melon, berries, papaya. No tomatoes...too acidic. Grapes are okay in moderation. Check out this link for more diet info.:FOOD 3. You need a UV light! Get one online for cheaper at petguys or lllreptile etc. Get the Zoomed iguana 5.0 flourescent UV light. You should be able to get it under $19. If you can spend more, you can get the Zoomed Powersun Mercury vapor bulb but you need a good ceramic fixture for that one (it is heat and UV). If using the flourescent, you can use a regular household bulb for heat during the day. You can use a ceramic heat emitter (CHE) or a very dark night bulb at night. I use timers (makes life easier). 4. Get calcium powder (with no phosphorus or d3). There are many brands. 5. I don’t know how big your cage is but you need a big one. Start planning to build one if you have an aquarium, reptarium, or small one. Here is a pic of mine. You don’t have to make it fancy, but they need space to climb and be happy. You can convert a closet as well.

Good luck and keep us posted.
