So this is a new one to me... Neutered Ig.......

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but never really thought to post about it........Julius had a vet check not long ago (being a rescue, he came to us with a host of health concerns), and it turns out he’s........ not entirely a he? He’s male, but was apparently neutered at a fairly young age. Maybe this explains why his secondarly sexual characteristics like head shape, jowels, etc look more female? Has anyone here had a neutered ig? The vet told us that (just like with a cat or dog), once it’s been done and healed, there shouldn’t be any longterm effects, other than perhaps some mellowing of "testosterone" behaviours. True? No?

I’ve heard a couple thoughts on this. Apparently if it is done young enough, it can stop the aggressive behavior but it’s not always successful if it is done after that behavoir has started already (which is odd). I actually have never met anyone in person or online that had or at least talked about their iguana being neutered so...not a lot of info on that one.

Wow, that’s interesting. New on me too. I wonder what the risks are and if it’s worth it. I think my igs a female though.
