I talk to her as I do house work And so on an dso forth. | Read my post below about the shirt thing... but other than that I’d just keep doing what you are doing. It can take awhile! And, find some treats so you are known as the "treat giver". Fruits or breads seem to work well for green iguanas, although each reptile will have his/her favorite. |

Rhino iguanas are extremely intelligent animals and can take a while to tame. If you have patience, something magical happens to them when they reach the 2 year old mark. Regardless of how tame they are, at 2 years old they just seem to calm down, lose their fears, and become much more interactive. This is the time that I start freeroaming mine. The difference it makes in their personalities and level of trust is amazing. Keep doing what you are doing, spend time with her, talk to her, handle her....just don’t let her get the upper hand!! Don’t put her down when she’s struggling...keep holding her until she calms down and then put her down. Best of luck to you. I LOVE my Rhinos!! :)

thanks it just gets a little discouraging sometimes. I must admit though that once she quits with all the struggeling and her newest bad habbit peeing as she proseeds to whip her lower body all over, its like having an indoor sprinkler systom, And after i get a clean towel around her, shes not so bad she may hiss and try to bite at the new little dog that adopted me other then that shes a dig fat brat. by the way how big are they at 2 years? and do they cranky when they go in to heat?

Baby Cyclura are notorious for peeing and pooping on people! She will outgrow that, I assure you! LOL My younger male turned 2 on November 5th and his stats at that time were 34+ inches STL and 14 inches SVL. I believe he weighed about 3 pounds. I’ve not had any trouble with mine during breeding season, they have been easier to deal with than the Green Iguanas.

this is in response to jif’s website, (midmichiganherp) I went on the site and it just broke my heart to see so many poor igs and other animals that were abandoned. it did give me hope though since they were thankfully rescued. hats off to all of those involved in the rescue efforts!
