 Can you overfeed an iguana?

question? is it possible to over feed an iguana? are they like dogs where they will eat til they get sick, or do they have control? Iggy eats SO MUCH... On average she’ll go through an entire banana or yam (just example, she doesn’t eat them every day) and about 1/2 a head of escarole or 1/4 bunch collards. It seems like the more i feed her the more she eats!

I always give my iguana more then it can eat. If he is no longer hungry he just stops eating. Sounds like you have yourself a healthy iguana. However...my opinion is based on foods such as collard greens, escarole, dandilion greens, watercress, mustard greens, and turnip greens. They may over feed on the "Junk" foods or food that are very tasty for them such as mangos, squash, etc. Also any pellet food, which I don’t recommend anyway, I think it would be possible for them to over eat them. I’d feed as many greens as you want...cannot overfeed, but I’d go easy on the yams and fruit.

In my experience, my ig eats a lot more greens if that’s all we feed him. When we feed him veggies - sweet potato, parsnip, okra, green beans, etc - along with his greens, he fills up a lot faster. It’s funny - one minute he’ll be ripping a leaf apart voraciously, but when he’s done, he just turns his head away - he literally turns his nose up at it!

i feed mine all the greens and mine likes it when i put carrots an sweetpatato in his greens. i put it in a bowl an he eats what he wantes . i might put some fruits in it but not all the time . he likes a lot of other things.
