Guys something awesome happened to me!!!

I went to Langkawi to spend Christmas with hubbie and kids.Langkwawi means dark brown eagle in malay and its an island in Malaysia. The name is due to the fact that the big brown eagles used to nest there. There still are a few eagles but the majority moved to another islands because of the arrival of the tourists. But we still could do eagle feeding in the mangroves by speed boat and it was amazing!!
Well, let me tell you my great adventure!!On the 23rd after dinner, we went for a walk on our hotel’s beach. It was around 10PM and our’s hotel beach was quite dark. Suddenly hubbie said:" It seems someone is throwing sand on us!!"
Then we saw a hudge sea turtle laying eggs on the sand just in front of us!!After each egg it layed the turtle covered it with sand just like the cats do after they pee/poo!That’s why it was digging and throwing sand on us!!
It was marvellous! We stayed there until all process was finished!!After have layed all the eggs the turtle compacted them pressing the sand with its body just like it was doing some exercises for the abdomem!!The turtle lifted its arms and legs then released the belly onto the floor. It was a noisy process but a very effective one! When the turtle finished its work nobody could see the eggs and we could even walk on the sand over them without damagging them, so well proteceted they were! After that the turtle dragged around the place to erase any tracks and returned into the sea water. The last thing we saw before it disappeared was its back still full of sand!!
My son Carlos took only 2 pictures because I didnt want the turtle to be disturbed by the flash.
The other day I asked a member of the Hotel staff if it was possible to see sea turtles laying eggs on the Langkawi beaches and he said it wasnt.According to him until a few years ago it was quite common because the sea turtles used to lay eggs there. But after the arrival of the tourists the sea turtles disappeared from Langkawi. It seems sea turtles hate the jet ski noise! We didnt tell anybody about what we saw and until our departure noboby from our hotel knew that the our hotel’s beach had turtle eggs hidden under the sand.

Sorry for such a long message!!!

You know I like to talk with you...You guys are sensitive and you like animals like me...I feel comfortable with animal people, mainly with reptile people!!!
About the turtle, yes, I think I was lucky but the turtle was lucky too...Im sure if it had met another family, natives for instance, while it was laying eggs on the beach, now that beautiful mom turtle would be half body in a cooking pan!!
I ve already developed the photos and Ill post the turtle photo here soon!
