 A few questions

Pretty soon I will be moving out. At this point in time my iguana is still in a cage but once he gets a little bit bigger I’m going to let him have free range of my house. I would like to know if any of you have any iguana proofing tips. I have no idea if iguanas are curious enough to get into everything like babies. I’ve heard that some iguanas try to eat all kinds of non edible stuff but mine doesn’t really seem to try that but I would stil like to know any ways to prevent a mishap.

As I said before, I will be moving out. Well, I’ll be living with my boyfriend and he has a cat. I was also wondering if any of you have cats and iguanas and if they get along. I know keeping them separate from each other will be a bit dificult and there would be a good chance that they would come in contact with each other at some point. The cat isn’t aggresive but it is pretty playful. My iguana isn’t aggresive towards anyone either. I’m just worrried that he may become aggresive to something closer to his size.

My iguana will have it’s very own room to itself but I would feel terrible just isolating it all the time.

 A few questions

Hi Cheryl_a,

I think letting your iguana free roam the entire house is dangerous. What if someone leaves a door open and your iguana runs out...not only will your iguana be in danger, but it also puts a black mark on other iguana owners. Besides that I have lost alot of my stuff from letting my iguana free roam. I have only two lights in the room(on the ceiliing, plus his uvb light hanging over him) he is in because they climb everything...tv’s, vcr’s, lamps, etc...could cause a fire or injure your iguana. A whole room is much better then the whole house idea. If your giving your iguana a whole room...just use the essentials that your iguana will need.

If there is a chance of your cat and iguana having contact then you should not have your iguana free roaming. Thats probably where people are going to think you are not being responsible to realize you should not have these two animals together unsupervised. Its just not a good idea.

Sorry if I seemed rude, that wasn’t my intention. I know someone had some iguana photos of what they look like after being attacked by another animal. Maybe somebody will post a link to that site.
