 LETTUCE?

Hey guys, i have a problem i have been feeding my iguanas lettuce for a long time now (almost 2 years now) and i wanted to interduce new foods to them would it be good to just stop feeding them lettuce and just jump to somethin new if so what should i start with?

i’m glad to hear that u want to introduce new foods. did u know that lettuce really isn’t good for your iguana? it doesn’t have enough nutrition, and is considered "junk food" for iguanas. you should feed them other greens instead, like collard, mustard, dandelion or escarole. there are some good lists on this site that can help u figure out a good balanced ig diet. i don’t think your igs will mind if u jump into something new right away. anyway, it will benefit them if u do. let me know how it goes

I would try cold turkey at first. Get some escarole or endive (looks like lettuce at least) and is nutritious to mix with collards, turnip greens, dandelion, mustard greens etc. Look at posts below for more diet links.

Just to clarify...when I said try "cold turkey" I mean going off without a transition...not feeding him turkey! I just read what I wrote and it could be taken that way

My iguana ate my water monitors food once, a whole plate of ground turkey. I carelessly left it on the water monitor cage and my iguana came down and ate the whole thing. I walked back in the room a few minutes later trying to figure out if I lost my mind and fed the water monitor already. PE
