Need help!!!!!!!
any one ever had an iquana with bowel problems???? he doesn’t go to the bathroom unless we put him in a tub with warm water, he eats alot and probably should be going every day, when he first came to live with us he didn’t have this problem he would go in his cage, sometimes in his water dish, not every day, maybe once a week or so, anyway, i think the cage is warm enough, there is a day light, night light, and a heat pad thing on the bottom of one half of his cage, his cage is pretty big. his diet i thiink is better then he was being fed before he came to us, he was getting alot of iguana pellets and not much fresh fruits and vegtables, he gets fresh water every day, spinach, green beans, banannas, strawberries, different lettuces, shredded carrots, grapes, etc. i rarely give him pellets, he seems fine otherwise he gets a little sluggish and off his food when it’s "bath time" any help or suggestions?????? |

| Hey Lizard Lips... You need to change your iguanas diet. I would cut out the spinach, bananas, strawberries, lettuce, carrots, and grapes. Carrots and grapes are good occasionally but not as a staple. Your iguanas diet needs to consist of some 3-4 of the following or more: Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens, Dandilion Greens, Chicory, Watercress, Acorn Squash, and Butternut Squash. Of course there are a few more, but I would get started on a staple of the above. I along with many other iguana owners use Collard Greens as an absolute staple in our iguanas diets. Here are some food charts: Leaves Fruits and Veggies Another Food Chart Also your iguana needs to have a good UVB light...I recommend T-Rex Active UV or ZooMed PowerSun Mercury Vapor Bulbs. They give off the highest amounts of UVB rays. See how your iguana does with the recommendations above. Feel free to ask questions any time. Good Luck and Keep us update. PE |

pe- i have the excact same problem. i don’t think mine is diet related, but i may be overdoing the calcium sups a bit. (paranoid i guess)but i think you are on to something w/ the bulbs. i am currently using one from reptisun which says it is specifically for iguanas and other reps. i may switch to the brands you recommended. my ig is so used to the tub as toilet routine that i doubt she’ll go anywhere else now. which is easier for me! |

| I would follow PE’s diet changing advice. As far as pooping though, it is unrelated. Your ig doesn’t want to dirty his cage. They naturally potty train...look at this as a positive thing! They love routine and want to go in the same place everyday. He may be waiting for you to give him his warm bath so he can go. |
