Here is beast, a month ago. WHat do you think? Does he look good? I am new to this iguana thing, but have done a lot of research and am in love with this little guy.

I feed mine a mixture of greens like mustard greens kale and different things absolutly no iceberg lettuce and broccoli only once a week. I also feed them grapes tomatos bananas kiwi strawberries once every 2 weeks and not a lot if they have to much fruit it will give them the craps. I also give them a can of cat food for their meat supply (they are not complete vegitarians). If you feed them only vegs and greens then they will have nutrition problems. (I had this problem when i first bought my iguana 3 years ago.) I also give them their pellets everyday and twice a week I squirt calcium spray on their food and make sure they have food in their cage all day so they can eat when hungry not have limited for 3 times a day.

No...you definitely DO NOT want to feed catfood or any meat/animal protein! This is a big no-no. I would stop feeding it to him immediately as it will destroy his kidneys. They are vegetarians...their body is set up to process plants and fruit...that’s it. There is still a lot of misinformation floating around out there. Sleestack has never had protein in his life and his blood tests come out fine. He is growing like crazy. Sleestack and friend.

when i took him to the vet his joints were swollen and the vet said to feed him catfood and i started to and he has been fine ever since.

I agree with Xta, my iguana is going on 5 years old and never had any health problems. Kale is also not the greatest leave to feed your iguana either. Probably by the time your iguana hits 5-7 years of age it will die of kidney failure. Iguanas don’t show signs of sickness until it is basically too late to help them. PE

that really sucks cuz i have been going by what the vet said and he is the only vet in my county that takes reptiles and it is to far to take them to another county i just dont want them to die. can u tell me the good foods to feed them and i will change their diet.

Sure no problem. This link has alot of info about the foods. Food Chart and this link is from this site, the chart is not completed yet, but you can take a look around it. Food Chart As far as vets go, you do what you have to do to get stool samples done and all. I know few vets I would not trust, especially if they are old school vet. PE
