Put some slices of potatoes in there for moisture. They morph to beetles pretty quick, I am thinking a couple of weeks? I have wheat bran mixed with oatmeal. You can also get laying chicken mash at the feed store, I have heard that is really good.

The wait for the beetles to lay eggs and the eggs to turn into more mealies is the long part - several months.

Good luck. Giant mealworms are regular mealworms that were sprayed with a chemical to keep them from pupating. I had some giants pupate but came out only half formed.

You might as well throw the pupa away if its your goal to raise mealworms, giant mealworms have been treated with insect growth hormone and the beetles they turn into will be sterile. The hormone slows/stops the rate that they turn into pupa though given enough time they can still morph. If you just want some beetles to look at get some wheat bran, or corn meal, and throw a few carrots in there for moisture and they should live for a month to a month in a half, if you want to raise meal worms get ones labled as large mealworms.
