Mealworm Hatching
I have had my mealworms for at least 2 months and I just started seeing some beetles a few weeks ago. I have at least a hundred and I have not seen any babies. There on oatmeal and I have some potatoes in there and there in a 6 by 10 critter cage, am I doing something wrong? When should I start seeing babies? Thanks

Mealworm Hatching
Well, If they have just turned into beetles it would take some time for them to lay eggs. Also, if you have 100 beetles in an 6x10 cage then they might not have enough space. You should start seeing the babies in 2-7 weeks. Varying on the temperature, the eggs might take longer to hatch. I hope you start seeing some babies soon. Good Luck!

Mealworm Hatching I didn’t think my mealie breeding was successful. I was just about ready to give up. I moved my beetles into a bigger container, and when I checked the substrate in their old container, it was crawling with hundreds of TEENY TINY worms. They were really hard to even see at first, I had to really look hard. Now they are getting close to the size of the "small meal worms" that you buy at a pet store. There are also tiny babies in the new container that I moved the beetles to. Like I said, look closely in your substrate. They are unbelievably small at first.
