 R supers meant to smell?

hey, sorry about so many posts but i have another question.
my supers smell really bad that mum almost made me get rid of them all. is this normal or is it just the substrate? its not that its a gross smell its just that its so strong.
also 10 died yesterdray and so in total ive lost around 15 in the past 2 days! i put them on top of the tank now so they are being kept warm but was the problem that they were just at room temp? now they are moving around alot more-is that good?

they should b kept at around 80....put a heat pad underneath on end of their tank/tub or wutever....but yea thats alot dying sounds like its too moist....or your not providing enough potatoes for moisture so they’re eating each other n then it smells haha ive experienced it.....so tell me more about ur setup

um ive no idea bout the temps but its definately warmer now coz its on top of the tank right above the light. how can i tell when the potatoes are dried out? i changed them twice because i didnt want them to eat eachother but the dead ones are just dead-not eaten. they’re just straight and stiff.
good news is that the smell is alot less or has gone away or im just used to it lol.
i still cant pick them up though...im just to scared of being bitten...sorry, it took me ages to touch adult crickets too. its just ive heard the stories that it kills (maybe because of shock) and they wriggle when i touvh them. how many pieces should there be so they dont crowd each piece?
thats all i can think of but i posted a pic on another thread.

ok sounds like the heat is fine....well how many do u have n how big is the cage/tub they’re in.....and for every 100 superworms there should b a slice of potato....i have 1000 that i bought in bulk n it takes a potato n a half to feed them every week haha.....replace the pieces every week n make sure u give one handfull of oats/bran per 300 superworms...hope this helps

yep that helps thanks. about the heat though i just realised the light goes off at night so they dont have heat during the night. maybe i should get a heat mat. i dont know i think ill just feed off the rest to prikles instead of breeding them, another 11 died last night i thought they’d be easier to take care of than this. if its just the heat thats a problem ill continue with them but this is more dificult to care for than my dragon lol. at least she enjoys them :)

sorry i forgot to answer your questions lol.
the tub is 17.5 inches long and 12 inches wide. i guess id have around 70 since ive lost about 20 and Prikles has probably eated around 10.

just updating that ive got 15 left now and i think im giving up. thanks for all your help but i think its just to tricky for me i dont even know whats killing them but on average 8 die each night :(
oh well ill just buy them weekly from the petshop.
