A few questions: 1)I am using bran for substrate, how deep should it be? 2)In how long do I need to take the beetles out to a new box with a fresh substrate? some say 2 weeks some say a month? 3)Do they need hides like egg crate? Any helpful information would be awesome! :) |

Your questions 1) Substrate should be a couple of inches deep... If it is for the adult worms, you will see them dig into it and dissapear... If it is for the beatles... the deeper it is, the more space the BABY worms will have to hide. 2) changing the substrate is completely up to you, If you have a deeper substrate, i would do this every month... Some people change it only when they start to see baby worms... they are very hard to see so you have to look very closely. 3) some people use egg crates for the beatles to lay their eggs, but they will do this in the substrate so you dont actually need them. Good luck with your breeding... I’ve recently had success on my first attempt |
