 Roaches

I’m breeding both lobster roaches and hissers with great success.
For containers, I use the 18 quart Sterlite plastic containers from Walmart, paper egg carton stuff to provide hiding places and more floor space.A wide band of vaseline around the top inner edge of the container is essential because these guys can climb! I feed them a mixture of dry Purina Kitten chow (or any high protein brand) and mixed grain baby cereal, ground to a powder consistency. For moisture I use orange and/or apple slices. You can also use grated carrots or really any fresh veggie except cucumbers (these are a natural roach repellant!). I keep the containers in my lizard room where the ambient temp is around 90* plus. The key to breeding is to keep them warm enough. Keep them warm and well fed and you’ll have more roaches than you know what to do with!
Roaches have completely replaced crickets for my lizards. My baby Bearded Dragons who are fed roaches instead of crickets seem to put on weight and grow much faster than before. I have a clutch that just turned a month old and the average length is about 7 inches long!
Hope this helps answer your questions.
