 Personalities.....it’s worth a chuckle.

I would like to share something that is quite funny to me about my snake’s personality compared to my hubby’s snake. I have a female mexican black kingsnake and she has decided from day one that I got her, that she likes to eat in her container on my kitchen counter. I found out today that the curtain for the kitchen window has to remain closed or she’ll play with her food. And she’s not shy to show off how quick she inhales her food. She gets 2 small pinkies twice a week.
My hubby’s snake is a gray banded kingsnake and he likes to eat in his feeding container in his home, if we place him anywhere else he plays and turns into a total clown. And he is very selective as to who is allowed to watch him eat, which is to say that hubby only is allowed to watch him eat, he’ll play around if it’s anybody else. Hubby’s snake takes his time with his food, at last feeding it took him 10 mins per large pinky and he gets 2 twice a week.
I’m sorry if I bored anybody with this story, but I found it funny and wanted to share a laugh if not a chuckle.

My hypo Florida King will only eat if he "kills" his prey. I can leave him in his tub for literally hours and he won’t touch F/T. Once I move them by the tail he jumps on them and wraps them up. Some snakes can be quirky!!! LOL

LOL.......I am finding out that our snakes and our cats are FULL of personality. It’s amazing how they are all almost human with their quirks and how things should be done in their world, sometimes it feels like I have 7 kids intead of 2 human kids(teenagers),3 cats and 2 snakes.
My snake won’t go to my sons yet, but she will let them pet her. And she won’t go to my hubby either, but she will let him touch her.As for my hubby’s snake he is so laid back, he doesn’t care, as long as he’s getting attention that’s all that matters to him. It’s funny.

Cute story! I have some snakes that won’t eat until I put their food in their mouths. This might get painful later...lol.

I have seen the pics of people on this forum doing that, and I’m not brave enough to do that with Artimas. She’s just too vicious for me when it’s meal time.

WOW!!!! That’s awsome!!! Hubby wants to get a boa next, and I’m thinking corn, but I’m not too sure which one because they are all so pretty.

Thats pretty funny...Gizmo is pretty picky about who she is with too...She will literally stay in my shoulders for hours. With anyone else she will try and crawl back in my general direction...She gets pretty snappy when someone tries to take her from me...And she also watches T.V. ...Like I don’t know if they can actually see or hear it but she get like kinda a vibe from it...She likes comedic things like Family Guy or The Simpsons...She also likes movies...She responds alot to Quinton Tarantino lol...

Well I just saw this and thought I’d say a little bit.

LOL.....that’s awsome.....I have found out that ALL my animals hate the vaccuum!!! The snakes flew into their homes, the cats were trying to run me over to get upstairs. It was crazy!!! When I was done I went to pick up Artimas, and she tried to nip me!!!! She’s only done that little move at feeding time.
It’s really wierd that only the cats get aggitated when hubby vaccuums, and the snakes don’t react at all. Maybe I move faster than him at vaccuuming, and that’s what spooked the snakes, I just don’t get it.

I have to say something here, since vaccuums came up. My tree frogs croak along to the vaccuum everytime I clean. It’s so funny! They must think I’m doing a mating call to them or something.

And a couple of my leopard geckos run out of their hides and look at it. LOL...

Everything else is afraid of it :)

Not yet. We just got our snake last week. He is just coming out of brumation and not very active at all yet. I look forward to getting to know his personality and I have enjoyed hearing all the different snaky styles.

He is "Pyramid", the Desert King

He’s got some really neat coloring. Does he have an all black head?
Have I told all of you that Artimas has "no fear" towards my cats in feeding frenzy mode? When she was done eating the friday before last, I had her in her container to calm down abit before I took her out, and we were sitting on the couch and one of my cats came up to join us. That’s when Artimas decided that she was hungry enough to take him on THROUGH the container she was in. The funny thing was the cat’s reaction. He just sat there and looked at her, he didn’t swat at her or put his head closer to her container,he just sat beside me and looked at her, as if to say "What the hell is your problem?". I dam near died I was laughing so hard.

That is hilarious!!!
Last night my brother came over for the night and I had Gizmo around my neck and my brother was all scared of her. I have a big hate for my brother and Gizmo must have picked up on that or something because she isn’t nice to him at all. She goes towards him to freak him out and then if he tries to touch her she "S’s up." Oh man she has quite the personality.

I LOVE YOUR SNAKE!!! All my cats are like that, if someone comes in my house and I’m not fond of them, the cats go on attack and watch duty.I’ve only had Artimas for two weeks, so I’m not sure how her reactions will be, but I hope she’ll be like your snake.....hee hee hee hee (insert evil snicker here). Hopefully that will make the "unwanted" stay away.:D

No, his head is mostly brown but toward the tip of the "nose" it has all these intricate designs in beige. That was what made me think of Egyptian, although I’m not entirely sure why. After he settles in I’ll get a good photo of his face. You’ve only had Artimas 2 weeks? Wow, you are really getting to know her well! You must spend a lot of time with her. Nice.

I know this is all anthropramorphizing, but it is hilarious. My snakes have some quirks to them as well. I have a female Eastern King that will f/t no problem, but she will only take it if I leave it in her cage. My Miami phase corn will only eat live, and sometimes, she doesn’t even want to finish the kill before she starts to chow down. She also won’t let anyone watch her.

I spend as much time with Artimas as I can, and when I take her out I introduce her to my sons and see if she’ll go to them. She’s only gone to my hubby once, and she lets my sons pet her, which is pretty cool. She’s really funny to watch when the boys pet her, one minute she’s moving around my hands till one of them pets her, then she stretches out and is completely mellowed. I swear if Artimas could purr she would. And she absolutely LOVES going for walks around the house, and checking out hubby playing his xbox.
I’m really glad I got her as a baby, she is the light of my life and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.
