Cali Kingsnake I found a ^ ^ today...right now he’s on some care fresh with two hides on both sides of the tank and a smalll uth under a 10 gallon...now I know that’s way too small (for the snake and my tolerance), but until I know I will/can keep it (maybe when it eats regularly) then I’ll buy a new cage. Any suggestions, comments, or other info on what to do? More importantly, as far as I know, is it legal to keep a wild Cali Kingsnake? Thanks a lot, Alec

Cali Kingsnake Sorry, I found out there legal. All I had to do was look at a couple threads and so far they are pretty popular! I have little experience if that question comes up...I’ve had 2 Garters before, and I was planning to get a lizard. Thanks again, Alec

Cali Kingsnake What should I do for feeding? Should I pop a mouse in? I’m a little scared it won’t eat and die. It looks pretty beefy, compared to photos I’ve seen of others

Cali Kingsnake Yeah. A wild caught snake will most likely prefer live food. Just buy a mouse or two (depending on size) and drop them in (one at a time, of course). How big is he? Take some pictures and start uploading.

Cali Kingsnake No pics sorry...he/she ’s roughly 3 and a half feet long and I live by a stor called EBV so I’ll try and get some advice their and see what’s up. What if it’s not the best idea to let it back where it was? I have a feeling it’s someone elses who neglectingly set it free...I was having some talk over a vision cage to put on the floor whereas I could place my other Ribbon snakes cage on top. First things first, I’ll go to EBV on saturday and see what they recomend. Plus I would get the mice their aswell. And a new cage that is if I keep it. Sound good? I was having the worst time choosing a reptile (preferably a lizard) and this find kinda excited things up so I hope he is no trouble. Any advice on starting to feed my Ribbon snake pinkies? He eats fish right now (bad food) so maybe you could help. I talked on the garter ribbon forum and scenting them and placing them in a dish by the water bowl is as far as I got, but the last batch I tried went to waste. Thanks again, Alec

Cali Kingsnake Good news...I put in a small frozen pinkie and he ate it almost right away. I think I’ll try and get a new cage and some mice today...Thanks to all, Alec

Cali Kingsnake As far as I know it is illegal to take animlas out of the wild, but on the other hand, he was virtually going to starve. Good news! I caught another snake. It’s about a 4 ft. long Pacific Gopher Snake and its way scarier and more vicious than the King! The big buy snapped at me like 7 tiimes now. One of them almost touchin me! I probably will let him go soon only in a much better area. Thanks, Alec

Cali Kingsnake I was thinking about getting anothe King, only it would be better if they could be housed together. Now I know in most cases this wouldn’t happen, however, would there be a possibility I could get another snake? They probably wouldn’t be breeding, just to save space and money. Well a bigger cage. I’d probably get about a 4 x 2 x 1-2 ft. vision cage. Any ideas? Again, they’d be together, but fed sperate if needed and I always have a spare cage in the event something happened. Thanks a bunch, Alec
P.S He ate a pretty large frozen hopper today so hes a keeper and now on a regular diet

Cali Kingsnake Never keep king snakes together. Check out LROY’s "When good snakes go bad!" and "nature of the beast" threads and you’ll see what I mean. King snakes are snake-eaters and one WILL kill the other. I’m sure LROY himself or lampro could tell you more about this. But just trust me, don’t do it.
