 MBK = Good beginning King?

Hey all, my name is Cameron. I am not new to this site, as my old computer fried a few weeks ago, and forgot my password a couldnt find it anywhere! So I created a new user. Im glad to be back and will have many Q’s for you guys!

MBK = Good beginning King?

I want your guys opinion. Ive read all the care sheets.

1. Whats their temperament like?
2. What size would you recommend? I like medium sized snakes, so is that good to start with?

I will be getting the snake from the NRBE in Daytona, FL, as I live 45 minutes away from the Ocean Center. I’ve gone the last 2 years and will be going this year.

I’m a newbie and my first snake is an MBK, and I haven’t had any problems with her. She has an awsome appitite and used to go into a frenzy at feeding time, but doesn’t anymore after I got her used to a feeding schedual. Artimas is a pretty laid back little girl, but there are some that can be fiesty. I say go for it, but that’s just my opinion.

Thanks for all tho info! You helpled me make my decision. I think ill go for the MBK. Hopefully the have one at the DNRBE, which im sure they will. Thanks for all the info!, 8)

My MBK was my first, she’s feisty though. I developed fast reflexes from her and learned the warning signs etc. She’s more of a ’lookit me, I’m pretty’ snake than one I can handle on a regular basis.

I have a MBK, I can handle her on a regular basis mostly because I have checked on her everyday for the last 2+ years. I handle her when I check on her, and she doesnt seem to mind me. When I first got her however she showed me her warning signs as you stated also. I give her full respect and her space.

My MBK was my first snake, and from the first week it seemed she tolerated me for the most part. I think I made a good decision to get a MBK for my first. I went to the Exotic Pet store for a Garter snake but the MBK caught my eye and I changed my mind quick..

LOL....Yeah MBK’s do that. I was thinking of getting a bright red and orange corn snake, and the lady who runs the reptile store here, said she had something to show me, and brought out Artimas from the back, and it was love at first sight. The only time that I have had any problems with her was when I first got her and she would go into feeding frenzy at meal time, Talk about "PSYCHO!!!". She’s calmed down since I upgraded the size of pinkies and how many times a week I feed her.



She is the light of my life...
