 Hybrid???

okay so I am facing some complications with striker my newest king, what i find odd about him is he has the body markings of a cal king but he also has the same head scales and head shape and color as an eastern king, but what i was wondering was if all members of the getula species have the same head scales???

I agree... While I only have 2 Cal Kings, I’d say that the head of the pictured snake is clearly Cal King (A nice looking one by the way!).

My wild caught California king. Photo taken June 19, 2008, exactly one month after she was rescued from cat, so she still looks a little scruffy, but after a few sheds and regular diet is now very pretty and considerably bigger. I will pester her later for a more recent photo. At least in this photo her head scales are visible from the top.
Your Cali king is a handsome fellow! How old is he?

I really have no idea how old he is but i measured him and he is about 58 inches!!!
I dont know if that is a big king or not but i think he is pretty huge. =]

58 inches is 4.83 feet, almost 5 feet! That is a big dude! I think that is some sort of record.
My little Cali is a little over 18 inches long and I think was hatched last summer. She would have been probably bigger if she had been living in captivity with steady food supply, instead of catch as catch can in the lumber pile with the occasional lizard. I don’t expect she will ever get as big as 58 inches, though.
