Feeding schedule

i have a kingsnake who is 4 1/2 years old, and appears to be still growing. she is a little over 4 feet long. currently, i feed her 2 adult mice every week. i am wondering how much other people are feeding their snakes of roughly the same age and size.

you’re doing about what i’m doing, 2 adult mice per week for a 4 footer is fine. but it would’nt hurt to go 3 everyonce in awhile.

Do you have a backup generator in case of power failure, assuming you are on the grid? I thought you raised your own rodents, both mice and rats. Of course, the cost of feed has gone way up.

A fascinating story out of Africa.
Eating mice and rats is not that extreme. We in our culture associate rodents with filth, but a rodent raised in clean conditions would be just as nutritious as a chicken or pig.

Still, though I would not want to eat a male mouse any more than I would want to eat a ram sheep. Something about them having cojones causes the meat to smell unpleasant. And pinkies just plain smell ewww...no wonder my pyro Woody goes Ugh. His sister doesn’t care, she eats them with gusto. Maybe the Africans have some sort of sauce to improve the palatability. Maybe Woody would like that!
